we liked how the staff made us feel welcome. they made the extra effort to accommodate our early arrival, which we were most thankfull. I has eye surgery that morning and needed to lay down as soon as possable. Thank you.
when we told them the mattress in our room was very bad, they replaced it immediately witha new one

The location was ideal for walking distance to CBD, without being too close. Value for money overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

The view from the room. The room was quite spacious, comfortable and the bathroom & shower were fine.

Internet booking was fine, Hotel easy to find and had easy access to the lift for our luggage on arrival. Friendly and obliging staff. Price very competative.

Comfort
A couple of things could do with a lick of paint here and there, but we were entirely satisfied with our stay. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, very hot water and lots of it. Nice to sit on the balcony. Everything we needed was within a short walking distance. Docs, hospitals, banks, eateries, and the city. Some of the patrons of the pub next door were a bit noisy, but not your problem and didn't keep us awake. Even the in-house entertainment on Wednesday night was more interesting than disturbing. We like Spring Hill very much and would certainly stay at the Metropolitan again.
The only thing I would say is that we thought the prices on items in the bar fridge were extremely expensive and that was the reason we didn't take anything from there.
Room was clean, beds were comfortable and plenty of hot water in the shower. Oldie but great value for money. Would stay again and recommend.
Bathroom needs to be renovated as it is rather old and the shower leeked onto the bathroom floor.

Sorry - not a lot of the above applied to me. Booked in late one morning and slept most of the time before leaving early next day. Only there briefly in a research trip for my current book.
Only problem for me (and this was reported and the offer of changing rooms was made) was that the fridge did not close.
Lift. I'm now 2 inches shorter owing to sudden stops. Could be a real problem for people with knee and hip problems. Needs urgent attention.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Bed was very comfortable. Hot water to the shower was instant and great. Our next city stopover would be here again!
A bit disappointed that it wasn't pointed out that there was no chef on the weekend so it was just a continental breakfast, we were really looking forward to a hot breakfast, would have been happy to pay the difference.

Noise of road but to be expected in the middle of city. No hairdryer in room. Rooms very old/dated but attempt to modernise has been done. Chose to use stairs as lift was a bit noisey.

Room I stayed in second time was across the hall to the smokers balcony, smell of smoke came into room every time we went in or out. thankfully our doors and windows to balcony opened so we could air the room quickly. Restaurant wasn't open at either times we stayed.
