  I upgraded online from a studio to 1 bedroom, then asked for another upgrade to an oceanview when we checked in. She found one available, offered it for $40 more, and we spent an amazing night in a gorgeous suite, 20 feet from the crashing waves! It was the highlight of our time in Hawaii.   The location cannot be beat close to the beaches market and shops. It was like living in a botanical garden beautiful plants flowers and amazing pool. Walking down the pathway from the lobby to the beach was like walking thru a sweet little jungle ... I loved it! The Kona Islander Inn is like a gem in the middle of town. It would be helpful if this were advertised on letsbookhotel.com. Luckily the hotel had a better room available than the one star unit we first saw.

  We loved our secluded rainforest hideaway, with the flowering colour & constant trilling of the birds & chirping crickets. Inside the cottage we found an intriguing tapestry of colour & creation combined with modern facilities.   the cottage was so cute. the spa was lovely and the bath just a treat. everything needed was there including extra little touches like coffee and filters and fire starters and wood.   Satisfied guests! Comfortable, clean studio room for 2 adults. Convenient to Volcano Village and Nat'l Volcano Park. Very quiet & private in beautiful tropical rainforest setting. Large front porch area, washer & dryer located between units. Warmed up quickly with 3 space heaters. - Convenient to the Volcano National Park. Clean. Cozy. Washer/Dryer available for use in breezeway. Extra pillows. Full kitchen (available but we didn't use). Internet, Cable. Covered Porch. Ours was an efficiency type unit. There is what appears to be a family unit next door. It shares breezeway. The large porch is shared but has some lattice type privacy barriers up. Separate entrances as well.

  The quality of the Studio was perfect! We had everything that we needed there! The little glass yar with a flower in was thughtful, the bed soft, the kichen clean and fully equited and the hottub was unbetable! :) - We loved the proximity to both Hilo & Volcano. The hot tub was an added bonus we finally managed to enjoy on our last night. The facilities were of a much higher standard than expected. Fantastic value for money. - We liked the residential, quiet and private setting, complete with our own deck, hot tub, gas grill and laundry all right there. The inside was beautifully designed and thoughtfully outfitted. A great place to come 'home' to after a long day of sightseeing or hiking or whatever.

  We stayed for 3 nights in February and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Terrie (the owner) is very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable of the local area she provided us with lots of information about what to see and do - and there is quite a lot, stuff you don't read about in the regular travel books. Everywhere was very clean and the accommodation is in a very peaceful lo - It´s perfect! Our suite was comfortable, clean and cozy. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great! (Fresh papaya with other fruits and yoghurt, and freshly baked bread or muffins). Location is absolutely wonderful, very tropical. Wifi worked great. Pahoa is a good base to start many excursions, even though it´s on the rainy side of the island.
