I am very happy to write about my experience at Discovery Inn recently. The rooms were very comfortable having been newly remodeled. Everything from the floor up including the TV appears to be tip top shape. The bathroom was spotless and new as well. The decor was nice and the room had nice amenities like toiletries, coffee maker, Wi-Fi and a fridge in room . The staff is helpful and courteous. Nice location just a few blocks from downtown Friday Harbor. Recently renovated comfortable and clean rooms. Friendly and helpful staff at check-in. Satisfactory value for the money.
Friday Harbor/San Juan Island is a delightful place to visit in the summer.

Super friendly owner who even gave us complimentary tickets to the film festival which was on that night! Very clean motel with an excellent hot tub and nice grounds plus a shed to lock up our bikes. We will go back.
It was only 5 minutes from ferry and downtown Friday Harbor and it's many restaurants. Beautiful grounds, friendly staff and comfortable beds and rooms. Will definitely stay again and recommend to friends.
Outside it looks like a well-kept backpacker's hotel but inside the rooms are big and well-designed. There's a big flat screen TV, the beds are super comfortable with fluffy pillows.
Set up my room for me since I was arriving after 7 PM, and it was warm and lighted when I got there. Just needed to sign the check in form in the room, so completely convenient.
Rooms were clean and comfortably decorated. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Good value for the money. TV remote was washable so that you could wash it.
Our room was better in everyway than was expected. Bathrooms/carpet/furnishing all modern. Expected less. Room was spaceous and comfortable. Very pleased.
Room was very clean with updated bath fixtures. Large space in "deluxe queen" room. Bed was comfortable. For the price in this location it was hard to beat.

The staff was great and very friendly. One member of the staff was new but did a great job answering all of our questions. If she didn't know the answer, she asked someone. She was helpful with booking a whale watching trip and restaurant recommendations.
The grounds are nice, very small though.
-the weather could have been better--it rained most of the time I was there at beginning of April.
We decided to leave the car in Anacortes last-minute so we had to walk to the hotel. Discovery Inn is not in the grid of the actual Friday Harbor but the walk is nice. We didn't mind the 15 minute walk for the exercise but others might find this not acceptable.
Can't think of anything negative to say.
Even though the comforter was nice quality and modern, in general comforters gross me out. I hear they never get washed...so I'm always leary of them at any establishment.
Old, dated property could use some tlc. Wood frame buildings creak and groan as people walk by on upper floor. Fairly near busy road which quieted down as the night wore on. No breakfast. Good for one night, no more.
A bit loud (mostly car noise).
The walls were thin so we heard muffled conversation through them. However, the guest themselves were not the rowdy sort.

The thing that I REALLY REALLY hated was that they didn't put clean towels in when they cleaned our rooms. I was so surprised that they hadn't done that. And certainly annoyed. That was an issue for me.
We did not like the fact that there was not a telephone in the room or information as to where there would be access to a phone in case of an emergency.

The rooms have no air conditioning. A bit stuffy even for June warm
weather, but they have fans. And felt safe to leave window open while we
were out for the day. But of course nothing of value left in the room.

Lack of counter space in bathroom; no tea bags; plastic glasses and utensils. Fortunately I had my own better quality plastic "glasses" to drink or wine from.

No deadbolt on door that is not keyed. The door is right near street. I am not comfortable with that.
We were downstairs and it was a bit noisy with people going downstairs with suitcases and outside traffic.

The room had been updated and looked great. The walls were still "thin" and so the rom wasn't as quiet as we would have liked. The main comfort issue was the temp of the room. There was a box fan that helped a lot but the windows would have been more useful if they opened at the top instead of side to side. We were on the ground floor and people could walk by and from a safety concern we couldn't leave the windows open all the time.
Thin Walls.
Extremely over priced, gravel parking lot, terrible for motorcycles. Rooms somewhat stagnant, no air conditioning, pool, or morning breakfast. Not a good value at all!.
