  I booked the hotel mainly because of its proximity to the venue for a college reunion dinner. A spacious free carpark in the centre of Oxford was an added bonus. The conversion from the old Barclays Bank has been carried out sympathetically and we had a spacious room for the night. Ne - The staff welcomed us back for our 1st wedding anniversary with their friendly, courteus mannerm and a bottle of champagne in the room- we first stayed at The Old Bank last year ,having just got married, and they made our trip extra special by upgrading our room and again giving us champagne.   We booked into our standard room,which was well above standard. All was good until we found that the bathroom sink was blocked. The staff arranged for maintenance to come to the room. They were unable to fix the problem straight away, therefore the manager arrived and moved us immediately to a superior room with complimentary drinks. I booked the Malmaison mainly for the fact that it is a converted jail and that it was in a Lewis episode. It was a bit of a splurge & worth every penny! The bar was fantastic & both bartenders that we encountered were quite lovely! We were treated really well by both gentlemen. By far one of the best experiences I've had in a hotel in the uk. I would love to come back & spend more time.

  Our visit as part of a self-organised university tour. The Bocardo is central and walking distance to most of the colleges, museums, shops, malls and covered market. It is located on George Street above Jamie Oliver's restaurant, cinemas and theatre across the road. Two days later the ceiling caved in during the night because of the water from the air conditioner.
