Gwen & Johan were incredibly helpful, and offered lots of recommendations both for restaurants and (most importantly for us) wine tours! Indeed, we hadn't even checked in and had made the online reservation a couple of hours earlier and they were helping us book a wine tour!

Room was perfect, bathroom luxurious, car could park in the gated
court. Minibar was reasonably priced and lots of choice. Breakfast made
to order. Location very good if one wants to explore Stellenbosch by
foot. Very passionate hosts who love to receive guests from all over
the world.

The reception on our arrival was friendly and helpful. Over the last
four years we have stayed at several B&Bs, Hotels/Guest Houses
in South Africa and the De Hoek rates as one of our best and most
enjoyable places. The room was clean and comfortable, well furnished and
with a superb bathroom. It had good air conditioning, tv and WiFi.

The personal touches were very nice (e.g., turn-down service that included port). Check-in was incredibly efficient -- we were in our room within about 45 seconds. The location in downtown Stellenbosch is fantastic -- across the street from a beautiful church and just one block from dozens of cafes and restaurants. And, of course, it's convenient to tons of wineries. Breakfast was served promptly, was delicious, and included everything one could want. This is a great guest house.

The view from the pool deck was just fabulous. Sugarbird was cosy but I would imagine nice in the heat of summer too. The fire place was lovely as was the open communal area. We couldn't have asked for a better stay while in Stellenbosch. The
rooms were spacious, clean, and had beautiful views of the vinyards and

I could not have picked a better hotel in which to celebrate my husband's 30th birthday. Although I made my booking the night before our arrival, the staff at Asara went above and beyond to make our stay special, even having a delicious cake and champagne ready in our room much to my husband's delight (and I didn't even request this!). Breakfast the next morning was perfect and the setting in which we found ourselves helped us relax and enjoy our little escape to its fullest.

The wild mushroom was outstanding. We stayed for nearly three weeks and it fell like home. The manager could not have been more helpful and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were extremely comfortable and clean. Sitting by the swimming pool and looking at the view was wonderful. Did not want to leave and will defiantly be back soon
