  After a week in Norway going through the fjords by car ( much more scenic than by boat and not as cold ! ) we experienced three " historic hotels " the Ullensvang, the Kviknes and the Union. Of the three , the Union is the only one which is a real historic hotel. The Ullensvang is very good , has existed for years but is a brand new building.   I would describe the furniture in the room as functional, it is certainly better than basic it is very clean with a small balcony overlooking the chalets and camper vans below and more importantly a wonderful view of the fjord. Food was 1st class and you could eat as much as you wanted. Breakfast was als - Location is amazing, we were in one fjordview room just in front of the fjord. However there is a camping in front of the hotel, so I guess it's better to stay at higher floors in order to enjoy the fjord even more (we were at 2nd floor out of 6). Breakfast is a complete buffet, you can dind everything you want, and the woman at te reception is very kind and helpful. Prices are not expensive taking into account the high prices in Norway, and it's worrh paying a little more for the room with fjo

  WE loved the reception we received from Thomas - he was sincerely helpful, cheerful and friendly. We asked for an extra heater and he brought it over almost immediately. He offered information and helpful suggestions eg when we asked about fishing and was available at all times. Excellent value for money, friendly and helpful staff but what makes it unique is LOCATION. Facilities are also good, free parking, wifi works well, coin laundry. You can rent motor boats or kayaks to explore the breathtaking fjord. Highly recommended !

We caught some fish and they cooked it for us, so we didn't have what was on the menu, but if our dinner is anything to go by they really know what they are doing! Breakfast is quite good. - The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. They exuded warmth and went out of their way to make us welcome. The fireside reception lobby was warm and inviting. Highly recommend.
