  My 83 year old mother and I were in Banff for my cousin's wedding at the Fairmont Hotel. We could not afford to stay at the Fairmont (even with a discounted room at $250 a night) and the y Mountain Lodge proved to be an excellent, economical choice for us. We would - Staff is very friendly. Great view out of the room window. Quiet place away from downtown.We could store our luggage on the check-out day. Complimentary internet. Free simple breakfast.   It was awesome place to travel alone in Banff Rockies. I met lots of people and we shared our informations. Location also nice to get to the main street (actually it was in the main st).   My lifestyle never changes. I can't stand the choreographed and artificial style of those so-called 5 star hotels which in my opinion should be inhabited by clowns, politicians, and other pretenders who do not know what value for money is. At the Banff International Hostel nobody salutes or bows at me. At the Banff International yo - We had an awesome stay at this hostel! The staff was very very kind and as it seems not to be too busy at the time we were traveling, they even offered us a bigger room, including bathroom and kitchen, for the same price! It was like an apartment and we felt very very comfortable. Breakfast was continental but not too bad to start the day. It wasn't too loud but there were still some people to talk to in the evening.
