Southern Vales is on 2 acres with some vineyards and farmland beyond that with sheep grazing which gives it a peaceful place to stay with no traffic noise at all!

The room was very clean, which was smaller than some but the thick fuffy towels and big shower made up for it! -
Carol and Alan were perfect hosts who made our stay just wonderful. The facility was clean, roomy, very pretty and comfortable and so relaxing. We were made to feel very special and were certainly looked after. The house is just beautiful and and so peaceful. Carol has some wonderful artistic pieces that she herself has painted and Alan`s breakfasts are just fabulous. We had a great time.

We always stay at Wine and Roses when we are in Maclaren Vale, but this is the first time we have stayed in The Retreat. As always Patrice is the perfect hostess and as usual, everything was fantastic. Looking forward to our next stay in May 2014.

Lee and Judi were attentive and professional hosts who made us very welcome. The house is beautiful and the room was very comfortable. Breakfast was well done, especially the wide variety of country-style fruit dishes including peaches, rhubarb and plums, and free range eggs from their own chickens.

We only stayed one night and checked in close to dinner time. Our keys and welcome letter were waiting when we arrived (along with some chocolates and port). The room was nicely appointed, clean and comfortable. There is a communal living and dining area if you don't want to be stuck in your room.
