The cottages were very welcoming. They are located behind the private home in which the owners live, therefore we had immediate attention, including warm freshly made bread and an assortment of local food for breakfast and nibbles. The bottle of wine was an extra bonus.

Extremely well appointed and comfortable cottage. Very warm welcome from Sandra who provided us with beautiful fresh produce,including freshly baked bread. Located just a few minutes drive away from Tanunda tucked away amongst vineyards. Enjoyed the sounds of kookaburras and other bird life. Highly recommend this accommodation.

We always stay at Wine and Roses when we are in Maclaren Vale, but this is the first time we have stayed in The Retreat. As always Patrice is the perfect hostess and as usual, everything was fantastic. Looking forward to our next stay in May 2014.

Lee and Judi were attentive and professional hosts who made us very welcome. The house is beautiful and the room was very comfortable. Breakfast was well done, especially the wide variety of country-style fruit dishes including peaches, rhubarb and plums, and free range eggs from their own chickens.

We only stayed one night and checked in close to dinner time. Our keys and welcome letter were waiting when we arrived (along with some chocolates and port). The room was nicely appointed, clean and comfortable. There is a communal living and dining area if you don't want to be stuck in your room. This self contained accommodation was a cute cottage with a spa and wood fire. It was spacious and well furnished, the heated floor in the kitchen and bathroom was a pleasant surprise.
