  I was travelling alone and booked a single room. The room on the first of 2 bedroom floors and was small but very clean. The toilets and wash basins were on the same floor and also clean and with hair dryers too. The showers were in the basement area and have to be the best showers in Switzerland. Excellent presentation and homemade yogurts, cheeses and jams, delicious warm breads and lots of dif - I stayed there for just 1 night but it was wonderful. I wish I was able to stay a little longer. It is just like a home, both the hostel owners were so friendly and warm. The check-in time was 2pm, I arrived 2 hours before, but without any hesitation and questions, she straightway gave us the keys and told us we can check-in.   Fantastic atmosphere and great staff. I felt I've got really personal service. I had domitory room for single use. Location is obviously one of the best assets of hostel. Bachlapsee is almost around the corner. I was woken up by cows bells and was shocked to see snow outside (in August). Views from breakfast room were breathtaking. I will recommend this hotel to all - attentive staff who worked well together - all seemed fluent in several languages; dorm had ten beds separated by walls at intervals for added privacy (4-2-4 if i remember right); food very tasty; magnificent views from the terrace

  The location is great. I think the unobstructed view from our room was more magnificent than from many of the other, much higher priced, hotels we saw in town. It does have a very narrow driveway by US standards but that is was makes the place so quiet and peaceful. The breakfast was awesome and really far better then we could have anticipated. At the top of the driveway is the main street of Grindelwald with everything you need - Family run establishment in a great location - it's less than a 10 min walk to the train station. The rooms are cozy and comfortable. I was pretty jet lagged when I got there, and was glad to get a good night's rest. There's a dining area where you can make coffee/tea, or just sit at the table. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included in our booking. This is great value for money. It was my first ever visit to Switzerland, and I'm glad I stayed here!
