  The Chateau d'Avanton is a wonderfully old, lovingly restored Chateau and it was really fun to explore this unique place. Thankfully it is really easy to find behind the church in the small village of Avanton. There is ample free space for parking and one can drive right up to the massive front door to unload the car. There is a large, well worn staircase leading to the large reception/ - Beautiful historic grand house, Le Chateaux D'Avanton is a minor chateaux, (but a major responsibility!) which is being run in summer time as a bed and breakfast. The setting is charming and the owner welcomed us warmly. Not sure if this applies to all the rooms, but ours, Mazarin, had a small kitchen (with hob, microwave and kettle) which was perfect as we wanted to stay in after a long drive and enjoy a simple supper without having to go out again looking for restaurants.
