  The hotel is on the upper reaches of the CBD close to the Victoria Market and opposite to the Flagstaff Gardens. Ten minutes walking will get you into central Swanson Street. The friendly greeting from the receptionist when you enter the hotel sets the tone of the place. Registration is quick and easy and you get directed to your room. First impressions of the room were a well presented and spotlessl - The staff were superb. Everyone, from the people on the desk to the cleaning staff to the people in the restaurant at breakfast time were polite, helpful, friendly and went out of their way to make you feel welcome without being 'in your face'. The breakfasts were very impressive with a great choice of fresh, delicious food and coffee made to order. The fresh fruit platter was an unexpected, very appreciated highlight on arrival.   The staff were fantastic, they couldn't do enough for you. The room was spacious and very well appointed. They location would be great if you had plans at one of the sporting venues and although you were 2 blocks from the North/South tram routes, there were East/West trams running one street either side of the hotel. Thoroughly recommend this hote... hva folk sier » l, especially if you like a bit of room to spread out, a couch and table to sit on/at, rather than having to lie on your bed all the time. - Amazing staff, especially concierge who always greeted us warmly and helped us with our twins. Very accommodating and sympathetic to our needs for our 6 month old babies. Well furnished rooms/suites for amazing value. Best location - just around the corner from flinders lane where lots of good restaurants / cafes located. One of the best experiences I've had at a hotel - particularly for the price we paid!

  This was our second stay at the Grand Hotel Melbourne and we were warmly greeted upon arrival. The staff are always very friendly and eager to help were possible. All the rooms are very spacious and clean with the most amazingly comfortable beds.   Unfortunately the hot water system died the day we arrived, but management was wonderful during this very testing time. We were kept informed on progress of repairs and eventually taxied to another apartment. Staff also took time to offer sightseeing advice and hints to enhance our stay. Ample eating venues also a good little IGA Supermarket. Reasonably Quiet location for a good nights sleep in the comfortable bed. Enjoyed the bath/spa too ! Extra payment for car parking was clearly explained by staff but all ok. Just next door and undercover. Not a problem !

  Arriving on a delayed flight into Melbourne via Sydney from Hawaii, we expected all sorts of problems upon arriving very late at the Somerset. However, I must complement their staff, in particular Paul Dale, who were very helpful and understanding. I commend them for the service, the spotless room and the central location. Bob Langridge - i like there are lots of electric and home appliances, like microwave oven, washing machine, stove, etc. There are shops and supermarkets nearby thus cooking in the room is very convenient esp. my mother is a vegetarian. It also near the melbourne central, queen victoria markets. And many tourist points can be reach on foot. (If you don't mind to walk)

  The room was very clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The Medina is in a great location and we will definately be back. - I liked the friendly efficient staff, the excellent facilities and the closeness to the City.

  We were smack bang in the middle of the city so location was excellent. Easy walking distance to most things we were interested in visiting. I found the staff friendly and polite. My daughter visited us on this trip and we arrived back quite late one night to the Hotel and the staff were extremely accomodating in allowing her to stay the night wit... hva folk sier » h us, which didnt end up happening in the end. Based on this alone I would defintely stay here again. Value for money a definite. Alice's was lovely w - This hotel suited us exactly it had all we needed for a short 3 day stay in Melbourne. Close to shops theatre, art centre Fedration Square and public transport. Bed was comforable, room clean and fresh, bathroom was new with good shower and loads of hot water. The cost of a three night stay was incredably inexpensive for its central city position. Not a luxury hotel if you want spa baths etc. but most definitely a good quality hotel for travellers who want a bit more than backpacker budget hot

  We stayed at Oaks on Market for two nights. The studio apartment was clean, comfortable and spacious. The hotel is close to Casino and night life, within 10 minutes by walking. They provided discount parking ($10 per entry or per day) in a nearby car park. Staying there again could definitely be our future consideration!
