  Friendly staff, lovely decorated bedroom room, lovely bathroom comfortable bed. Loved the fact there was complimentry water, free wifi. The complimentry newspaper was a really nice touch too. Its those little things that sets the George apart from other hotels in the UK. The doorman who helped us with our luggage was professional and helpful. Love... wat mensen zeggen » d all the different eating rooms, they seem to have a nice atmosphere but sadly we didn't have evening dinner at the George but have resolved to come - The facilities are everything you would expect from an establishment such as The George -the room was magnificent and the ambience of the hotel relaxing and welcoming. The staff are clearly focussed on guest comfort. It was a thoroughly enjoyable stay and we will certainly make a return visit soon.

  Breakfast was very good with a wide selection and great service. We spent two nights - one on arrival in the UK and one the night before we left after touring for three weeks. This was one of the best beds we slept in - our first room the bed was a proper queens size and very comfortable, the second was a double but still a great sleep. We really ... wat mensen zeggen » appreciated the wee bottle of vodka in our room after a rather harried drive up from Heathrow. On our last night we ate in the dining room as the pub - The Bull & Swan is an atmospheric historical inn with stone walls and huge fireplaces. It is perfectly located for visiting Burghley House and exploring the pretty town of Stamford. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, and made us feel immediately relaxed and at home. Our room was stylishly decorated and spotlessly clean, with a large comfortable bed and lovely walk-in shower. Breakfast was ample, with plenty of choice of cold and hot goodies. Will definitely return.

  Great hotel with excellent grounds, the patio area is large enough to cater for busy stays with sunshine,very friendly staff and very helpful. The food is very nice and reasonably priced also. We had a breakfast in the morning which was good full English plus continental with cereal and juices. Very large carpark with free - absolutely FIRST CLASS food - the reviews about the young chef are true. Food that actually looked superb AND tasted unbelievable. Quirky uniquiness of hotel, neither too stuffy or too casual. Its was unlike any formal or informal hotel we had stayed at before. loved it, yes, was very clean and comfortable, and relaxing!

The location was just up the road from The (far more expensive) George and it was a five minute walk to the town centre in one direction and Burghley Park in the other. The room was large enough for a couple and very quiet, overlooking the walled garden at the back.   The hotel is effectively a good sized traditional country Inn and as such retains a really authentic natural charm to both the outside and especially, the inside of the building. It has been extended at the rear to form a bright and sunny addition to the main eating are which is mainly used as a Breakfast area. The food is very good indeed. From the more exotic to the good old traditional Full English Breakfast, everything is done with style an - The room was large and airy, it was kept lovely and warm on some very cold days. Everything was there including some delicious biscuits. There is a restaurant which serves mouth watering food which I would highly recommend which was also presented very well. Well done to the chef there :-)
