  Wonderful location in centre of Devizes. This has always been one of my favourite pubs especially in winter with log fires, friendly bar staff, lots of dogs and a good range of food and drinks available at all times of day. First time I had stayed here and I was very pleased with the large, comfortably furnished room overlooking the market place. ... wat mensen zeggen » Good sized bathroom too, parking available and good food in the bistro. Most of all The Bear is a fabulous old building which can not be easy to maint - Friendly, helpful staff. Fantastic breakfast! We were travelling with our son, his partner and a very young baby and also an elderly mother and aunt. All were very happy with all aspects of the hotel. They were also very accommodating when we requested early check-ins in order to change for a wedding. All in all a lovely hotel.

  1. Simple old fashioned coaching inn with "Ghostly" history. To be fair, we arrived were attending a party nearby, had B/Fast next morning and left so didn't make use of the pub etc. The staff were fine and there had been a slight mix up over booking B/Fast however the owner really went out of his way to sort us out. The breakfast was delicious but beware of the portion size (huge). The coaching inn is in the centre of Devizes. Ask to see the cellars as they were part of a tunnel system that ran all around Devizes in the old days. Room No. 4 is said to be one of the most haunted in England.

  I stayed in the hottest part of 2013 and my room in the attic was very hot and with the windows open very noisy. However, the hotel had done their best and I had an excellent electric fan and there were even ear plugs available. At any other time of year I would have enjoyed it but the hot weather was hardly the hotel's fault. The evening was made... wat mensen zeggen » memorable by an excellent meal in town at a place called "The Bistro" which I thoroughly recommend. - I have visited this hotel twice within 2 weekends with different groups of family / friends. The staff are very helpful and accommodating, and went the extra mile to ensure that all our needs were met. Great breakfast, and good value for money.

  Very convenient for our need.... We were at a wedding which was at thechurch next door. - The staff were very friendly. The hotel itself is a blend of old meets new with regard to decor. The food in the restaurant was excellent!
