The Red Lea Hotel is situated on Scarborough’s picturesque South Cliff, which offers striking views over South Bay. Guests can benefit from the indoor heated swimming pool and free Wi-Fi on offer. Rooms at Red Lea feature wooden furnishings and are equipped with a modern tiled en suite bathroom. Other features include a TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Sea-view rooms are also available. The on-site licensed restaurant serves an extensive selection of wine, beers and soft drinks and features an ever-changing table d'hôte dinner menu. Scarborough Rail Station is less than a mile from the hotel and Peasholm Park, which features a boating lake and a Japanese garden, is a mile and a half away. The south east corner of the North York Moors National Park is 3 miles from the hotel.

A lovely, oldfashioned hotel in a elegant part of Scarborough. Great location for anyone using the Spa for entertainment purposes as we did for a Jools Holland concert. Easy walk down into town centre and access to cliff lift if daunted by the walk back uphill. The food is good, well cooked and presented, the dining room looks lovely for dinner in the evening. Every member of staff working at this hotel are special - just great service for a great price. Very clean, warm with cosy public areas.

Friendly staff wonderful location; much character but in no way too 'smart'; we were generously upgraded. Very tasteful bedroom refurbishment most comfortable bed breakfast is served, not taken in a free-for-all contest. Varied dinner menus (copious portions!) suiting the conservative 'home' palate The heated pool in the basement looked attractive, if on the small side - we found no time to use it Care taken of plants along terrace, and fresh flowers at table, reception etc, also hotel's sponso. Nice and friendly and our room was clean and tidy. A good location on top of the South cliffs but not recommended for anyone that finds steep hills a challenge as it's a bit of an event waling from the beech and sea front up to the hotel, but there is a cliff lift. Plenty of free parking with a hotel ticket but spaces are hard to come by on busy bank holidays etc..I'm sure there are better more expensive hotels near by but for what we wanted it was fine..Would we stay again...Clean room, nice a. The reception staff were helpful, organised and very friendly. Our room was immaculate and very spacious. The receptionist noted my requirement of a bath and delivered. The bar was relaxing and no pressure was put upon us to vacate at 11pm. We had a lovely view up the coastline to Filey Brig and we're within a few metres of the Italian Gardens and the cliff walk down to the Spa. We will certainly stay again. Excellent value for money hotel on the South Cliff at Scarborough. The hotel staff were very helpful. The rooms were comfortable and warm. The pool was lovely and the public rooms were pleasant. There was entertainment on at least 2 of the 3 nights we were there. Would def like to return. The staff where fantastic,helpful, accommodating. Even when we was running a little late for breakfast,which they made earlier for us because of our appointment at the university was early. They rang and without no bother came up with a tray of toast... Thank you.. Friendly staff, the house keeper arranged a frame in the shower room for my elderly father upon arrival. After she took note of his needs. The food was very good and priced well.Thank you all for a very happy stay, will recommend to friends and family. The staff were very friendly. Tiles broken and missing in bathroom. bit of swopping of breakfast tables, papers not delivered to room, left on reception and wasn't told, parking a bit of a game of chance, L3 is the area you can park in around the hotel but spaces are very few although L3 does go on all 4 streets around the hotel. stairs down to the pool bit grubby and stuck down with duck tape in areas. No dislikes, but nb this hotel markets itself most successfully to a maturer percentile and youngsters might not feel entirely at home. Our room was at the back of the hotel and the view was of dilapidated roofs, kitchens and the alley way...The hotel like many out there is dated and could do with modernisation..TV Far too small. NA. Nothing. It was a same the pool closed at 7. nothing to dislike. Breakfast portions reduced from off season!!!!!. Nothing really, we had a good time and didnt have any criticisms of the hotel or its staff. They were really good. The 1 hour breakfast slot, even at weekends. My 84 year old mother found it difficult to be to ready and downstairs by 9.30am. The enormous room keys and fobs which had to be handed in when leaving the hotel (and claimed back when you had forgotten something and needed to go back to the room) In these days of key cards it seems outdated. The room was very small. I would have expected a larger room for the price we paid. The evening meal time did not suit our requirement so we were unable to use it, which was a shame. Squawking seagulls at 5 in the morning (not the hotel's fault) Shower so difficult to operate I only got hot water out of it once Food pleasant but a bit monotonous (too many boiled potatoes and heavy puddings). Hot tub wasn't in use! Some of my friends rooms were a bit small. Would love to have been able to bookm in earlier than 3pm. hard mattresses and even harder pillows. the lift, but then I don't like lifts. Timing for breakfast is a bit rigid!. Nothing. out look from our room was a little dreary, i am assuming this is why the window had frosted glass , room a little on the small side,but in fairness we did not pay a ffortune. there was nothing I didnt like. The breakfast was small for the price. That there was never any entertainment in the evenings. Pool, clean but on the small side. Room was very small. 3/4 bed not double so too small for 2 people to sleep comfortably. nothing. The breakfast on a small plate would have looked better on a larger plate and the food was cold. also maybe self service would be better. plus jaccuzi out of order :-{. due to location parking could pose a problem - particulary in busy periods. Nothing. Waitress service at breakfast. Bar not open late. Lift not working for entire stay and disabled partner upset. No hair dryer provided. room too small,313,bathroom no room,needs a makeover.
