  Loved the atmosphere on the grounds with the open-air lobby and tropical landscaping. The on-site restaurant had excellent food and a view of the pool and ocean. The tiki torch lighting in the evenings with the sound of the conch shell and great entertainer was also very memorable. All the people in the resort were very friendly and welcoming. It was a really nice touc - We liked how close we were to the beach. I left my sliding glass door open all night so I could hear the ocean. Very soothing. There are a lot of places to stay on Maui, I feel that I stayed in the best location!! Easy to get in and out. Hwy 30 just down the street. The staff made it extremely easy to come and go. They weren't pushy, but available when you needed them.

  The location is great, having the Whalers village right next door was so convenient with lots of places to eat out. The beach was lovely, very clean and long enough to walk daily to keep the holiday kilo's down. We loved our unit, it was spacious and comfortable, it overlooked the village and had a great sea view. However as its right on the beach, the ocean and local sea turtles make up for it. The beach is spacious and not crowded. Room is modern, with everything you need. We loved out stay here.

  The swimming pool complex was amazing and well-suited for both a 1-year-old and an 8-year-old. A great place for a multi-generational family vacation...perfect for families traveling with the grandparents. Everyone had fun! Exceptional staff. Our unit was on the second floor with a panoramic view of the ocean and the island of Molokai overlooking two beautiful swimming pools. The turtles were seen everyday nearvthe rocky shoreline. We enjoyed the soft music that played each day and the gorgeous sunsets from our lanai.

  Jim Music was very accommodating in getting us a room earlier than check-in. We were very fortunate that we stayed longer the next day since the room wasn't booked. We were able to eat supper and take a shower before our late flight. The staff was absolutely wonderful in helping us with our stay. - I like everything!!! We visited the Four Seasons, Andaz and Grand Wailea and just felt more "at home" at the Makena.
