As soon as we arrived this hotel captured us. It's location was easy
to find from the airport (though the driving on the other side of the
road/car was a little taxing). The Standard sign placed upside down,
the fire heated outside seating area, the colouful indoor waiting area
with pool table, warm and welcoming staff with a hairdressers and shop

all waiting when you enter. We were upgraded to a room with a larger bed
and docking station (the bed being the biggest ive seen, let alone slept
in) -
Everything was perfect. Excellent staff, special mention to Rodrigo, very helpful since the very beginning. The Rooftop is simply amazing, with a nice atmosphere and good music. We did not used the pool as it was always full, LOL. The location is also very good, with the 7th street Metro station 2 blocks away.

... ce que les gens disent » quite impressive great! - loved it... great interiors, great staff who were really helpful,... loved the free internet and room quality.. but 2 complaints would be... breakfast was not very substantial and certainly not continental as advertised.... and the location of the hotel was in a dodgy area of downtown LA and not very safe walking anywhere around the hotel. otherwise it was great.

The photo's do not do this hotel justice! The essence of this hotel of rich history or sport, that dark, seductive feel to the rooms- it really was such a wonderful stay! * Atmosphere of the Hotel - felt like you are in an exclusive
private Club.
* Liked that you were able to use all the Clubs facilities at no extra charge (indoor swimming pool, gym, squash courts and basketball court)
* The breakfast (cooked) was included in the room rate
* Location was great to be able to use public transport (bus & subway) + only 20 min walk to Staples Center

I liked the fact that it is an old hotel, which has a lot of class. I have been there before and with a city the size of LA, I feel comfortable with the location. I requested the highest floor possible and the quietest area and my requests were honored.
