Everyone was extremely friendly just as expected from true Japanese place. A person from the ryokan met us halfway from the station, showed the way and helped with the luggage, though we have not even told ryokan about the time we plan to arrive! I believe those guys patrol the area each time a train arrives just in case.

I have been to japan 47 times and I really loved staying at this hotel.
We had 4 nights at half board (meaning breakfast and dinner is included
in the price) The staff were really friendly and not afraid to engage
with us even though we had little Japanese and their English was mostly
job specific. Our room was Japanese tatami mats and really big. The beds
were put out at night while we had dinner. The food at breakfast and
dinner was totally awesome and very Japanese with sashimi and sukiyaki

Beautiful open air bath. Exquisite food. Great views. Accessible (considering it is in the Znational Park). With it Korean staff explained the gourmet food in English in a place where there is hardly any English.)

As soon as I stepped into the Hotel I was amazed by the decor and
traditional interior design. A staff member said I couldn't check
in before 3pm (it was 12.30pm) but he said I could leave my bag there.
So I left the building and went for my excursion to the Shirakawa-Go
Unesco Village and came back around 7pm and he kindly checked me in.

I really like the onsen in Takayama Ouan. They have 3 private onsen to choose. So if you don't want to go to public onsen they've other option. The breakfast is great and a lot of choices. My family really enjoyed the breakfast. Location is good also close to the train station. You can just walked for 5 minutes to the hotel from the station.

Beautiful atmosphere. Authentic traditional as opposed to modern renovation to look traditional, so don't expect top o' the range furnishings. The reception staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. The Japanese style breakfast was delicious. The restaurant staff excellent. Location great for easy walking distance to sightseeing attractions restaurants and shopping including the morning market by the bridge. Japanese style Bath/Spa is excellent. Taking off our shoes and using hotel slippers everywhere you walk inside the hotel. Our two pieces of luggage were carried up to the 3rd floor for check-in and picked up for check-out.

Yamakyu was wonderful. A very welcoming and relaxing ryokan with an
excellent evening meal and great Japanese breakfast, and no diffi\culty
adapting these for a vegetarian diet. On leaving, our host offered to
drive us to the station (depite it being only a few minutes walk), and
he very kindly arranged to send forward an item that we had left in the
room - at no charge. We could not have asked for better. Thanks to all
for a lovely stay.

Spa Hotel Alpina Hida was great! Everything about the hotel was spot on.

Very nice room and quite large by Japanese standards and the hotel is in a great town full of historic buildings and beautiful scenery. The hotel is new and well maintained. The staff are helpful. The surrounding area has great eateries and coffee- try the coffee at he place next to K's House - friendly people, good homemade food. And go to the Jazz Bar- truly great.

This is a well run cozy traditional Japanese-style hotel. Clean and surprisingly quiet tatami-floor rooms and two well-kept onsen (traditional hot baths) are excellent for relaxation. This is not a luxurious hotel but it is a great value for money for those wanting traditional experience. -

Great location- only a short walk to the old town and morning markets. Plenty of great places to eat in the surrounding streets. The onsen on site was a real treat! And it was nice to use their sister hotel's onsens which are walking distance from the ryokan. We loved the service. We were served green tea and local Hida beef jerky on arrival. All

The staff is nice and friendly. There was a receptionist that worked during the evening hours, her English was good and she was really helpful! Whenever I had a question or needed something she would even go out of her way to help me.
