  The location of the hotel was a huge plus. It was directly across the street from the jr Nikko train station, and a short walk from the Nikko Tobu station. For those without a car, you can catch a bus to the onsens/lake area, or to the temples (although walking to the temples from the hotel only took approximately 25-30 minutes). We found this very convenient as it meant we didn't have to go far with our luggage, but it's good to be aware that it's about 2-2.5km from the main centre of Nikko and the world heritage sites, so it will be either a reasonable walk or a bus ride from the hotel to anywhere you want to go. I like the front row view of the chuzenji lake. - Nice location that oversees the lake; Excellent (western/fusion) breakfast and dinner at the restaurant next door. The staff were friendly too.
