The Prince perhaps shows its age but in such an elegant way. Our rooms were large, elegant and very comfortable. We were being budget conscious at the time we stayed and so didn't eat at the restaurant as we heard it was on the expensive side. the hotel is clean and comfortable and the onsen is fabulous! there are one bath inside and one outside, sauna and places to wash yourself.
position on the lake is spectacular but a bit isolated and restaurants in the hotel are expensive.
they have a free shuttle service from Odawara station.

Le onsen dans l hotel et l accueil qui fut exceptionnel -
I will remember this place as the one of the best I stayed in Japan.
Staff was awesome and very helpful, room was big and we had a great view on the Hakone mountains. There is also onsen that is open 24/7.
Hotel is placed bit a side of the main routes which some people may find troublesom

In other words - one of the best place to stay in Hakone area. -

Yumoto Fujiya Hotel wasn't super cheap, but very conveniently located, minutes from Hakone-Yumoto where you will have to change trains no matter what. It's a good place to arrive the previous night to have an easier start the next morning. The room, although not very cheap, was super spacious and comfortable.

Excellent location very close to the train station but very quite and relaxing. We were traveling around east Japan and this was the most expensive and poshest place we stayed but it was well worth it. Staff were great. It was clean, spacious and very comfortable. According to my companion the Onsen was perfect. I chose to get a shower with the dazzling array of toiletries provided. As well as an excellent base for exploring Hakone we took a day trip to Tokyo which took under 2 hours by train.

We found about Fukuzumiro in Lonely Planet and decided to give it a try in order to escape from the more crowded cities in our 2 weeks visit to Japan.
We stayed in Fukuzumiro two nights in a weekend last may and, simple put, the best experience of our trip.
Short of words to exprese what an awesome time we had, from the truly japanese cuisine, hot thermal "onsen" and the friendly staff, all was 100% perfect.

The hotel staff was very accommodating when I let them know ahead of time that I could not eat seafood. They served up an amazing meal for us where my fiancé got their usual seafood dinner and I got some good substitutes, like fruit and tofu. It didn't hurt that we got served this in our hotel room.

The staffs were excellent. All of them were so polite and helpful. Very
attentive. The lovely old lady and man who came to our room to do the
turn down service were adorable. Too bad I can't really speak
conversational japanese. Also, When we checked out, we missed the
shuttle bus, the staff actually get the driver to send us to the
station without us asking. I understand that japanese had a fantastic
culture but this gesture is simply beyond description. Kudos! My hubby

it was clean and tidy place. breakfast it is ok, onsen inside of hotel is relaxing after a tiring day you can have relax there/if you know how to get there it is ok but if you dont it can be difficult.in hakone you can take a hakona day pass which you can use on buses cablecars and ropeway it is very convient /to go to hotel : TAKE A HAKONE TOZAN

The basic facilities provided are enough for budget travellers, like the hot water provided in every floor, nice pastries for breakfast including tea, coffee and juice. Share bathroom is very clean. The shutter bus provided is a plus as well. It is not easy to get dinner nearby so we took the advice from the other travellers, we got the bento or ate our dinner before we go back to the pension.
