Lots of old pubs with great character here and the old famous "cockle sheds" for fresh sea food. Friendly helpful and informative staff. Room lovely, quite elegant and very comfortable. Big ensuite- well equipped and lovely deep bath. - our room was spacious, clean and very comforable and had a wonderful view. the staff were friendly and helpfull and the breakfast was perfect.

Very helpful reception staff including the duty manager Thomaz I think? Helped us to our room as we had to carry our sleeping child. Was very helpful on the phone and friendly and nothing was too much trouble!!
Also lady in the morning on the reception was helpful and lady at breakfast helpful and friendly towards us and our son. And best omelette

From the minute we walked in we were struck by the friendliness of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was great, nice sea view and we even had a balcony. Food excellent, especially the recommended snack for lunch - fish and chip sandwich (recommended by the hotel MD) - which was superbly presented and with a glass of wine went down exceedingly well. Dinner was excellent with great desserts, afternoon tea will have to wait for our return visit. But breakfast was the best, hom

The proprietors were extremely helpful and friendly. A problem that arose was sorted out without any drama. The breakfast was very good with a choice of toasts, jams etc which could be done to your own taste. I asked for a non butter spread which was quickly produced. I would be happy to return and take my family. There was a quiet and professional air about the staff and accommodation which was welcoming and relaxing especially as I was visiting for a difficult family matter.

As we travelled there on motorbikes they allowed us to store the bikes in a secure locked rear yard. - Very friendly staff, the hotel was clean and comfortable. Letting us in an hour early owing to heavy rain. Fantastic location parking easy. Great English breakfast room facilities 10 out of 10 lovely comfortable bed. Tea coffee making facilities and biscuits too we couldn't have asked for more. TV & internet all provided .Owner's staff so friendly and welcoming we totally loved it. Worth every £ you won't beat it book it!

We stayed at holiday inn in southend since our flight to Amsterdam was taking off from southend airport. So we ended up staying there for two nights. It was absolutely the right decision. The hotel itself was spotless. It was really clean and well maintained. Best hotel for the price. southend is a nice town for nightlife and clubs. Not so much during the days.
