For a two star hotel this was much better than we expected. The owner was friendly and spoke very good English. The facilities were basic, blanket on bed instead of duvet, but very clean. TV, shower, hair dryer, and most important private parking. My advice is to pay the extra for breakfast, you won't be disappointed, it was better than one we had

We took advice from this website and did not book a hotel in the town due to parking problems. This hotel is just across the river - a five minute walk to the town centre and with a great view of the castle on the way. The staff were welcoming and friendly.
There is a lift up to the chateau from the town - the site is well worth a visit.

Our hosts were very welcoming and the accommodation was of a high standard, as was the breakfast provided. The town of Chinon is approx. 15/20 minutes walk and has the usual shops restaurants etc and the all important chateau. There is a gite to rent on the property which would be ideal for families as the grounds are extensive and safe and there is a swimming pool with lots of outdoor seating/barbecue etc.

Despite my speaking no French and the staff no English, we managed well. The rooms are small but spotless. The ensuite the same. The toilet down the hall not overcrowded and also spotless. The location across from the railway station made it easy, but slightly inconvenient to town, about a 10-minute walk away. I loved my stay.
