The environment was just fantastic. Lovely people at front desk. Elderly woman in dinning area is very warm and welcoming. The complimentary free valet service rocked my world!

Some of the waiters had somewhat "unpleasant" faces. Dinning wasn't the usual "service with smiles" experience that I'm used to.

The beds were extremely comfortable; the staff were always polite and very helpful, where nothing was too much trouble; and the 3 miles shuttle bus was very useful and would go out at a moment's notice.

Older hotel but refurbished rooms that showed attention to detail. Helpful staff. Bar/restaurant downstairs.

Can be noisy before up to 10pm as there is a public music venue across the street. Quiet after that.

I liked that the Hotel was located in the theatre district yet within easy walking distance of the George Brown Convention Centre..but even then if you didn't want to walk they would give you a lift. Very polite and courteous staff!

Upon entering the front doors, guests feel both welcomed and at ease. The careful attention to detail assures a sense of classic elegance, much in the manner of an English country house. The robes are just wonderful for relaxing, and the music available on Channel 5 eases one into restful slumber. The food is fantastic, from breakfast through dinner.

Shower plumbing fixtures that are more about style than function. The charging of a mandatory "service charge" or "usage fee" in addition to the stated rate.

Breakfast coupon not honored by room service. Other hotels do. Charged $75 for extended check out to 2 pm--I actually stayed nt 2:30 since I had to pay Anyway. Other hotels don't charge. Very disappointing.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff was friendly and more than willing to help in any way. I also liked that there was a shuttle van to take us to and from the wedding that was nearby. The hotel was not cheap, but was very competitive with nearby hotels.

Jumping over paint cans and ladders and workers in the lobby and the paint smell, but I understand that is only temporary during the remodel.

I love the pet friendly and best free breakfast ever, the staff there were incredible and I love the luxury fancy hotel.

Nothing. I loved everything about it, just no parking lot, you had to pay 30.00 for valet . but I didn't mind it at all best valet people with great smile and attitude. So it was worth paying the $30.00 plus tipped them well.

Excellent staff that seemed to be genuinely interested in making my stay as pleasant as possible. Although still going through a renovation phase, the Lancaster is a well appointed historic hotel with excellent access to Houston's theatre district and good quality restaurants. The room I stayed in was well equipped with bath robes etc., and a very comfortable bed.

Apart from the Bistro menu being a little limited I really can't say there was anything I didn't like about the Lancaster.

Location restaurant/bar and downtown shuttle service

Noisy on second floor. There was construction at the corner of Texas and Louisiana and every time cars passed over the steel hole cover on the corner it made a very loud noise and I woke up. Although I requested a corner room I would suggest room 201 be the last room the hotel fills until construction is completed.

The room was fantastic, beautiful, well lighted, well designed with all the amenities,Bathroom spacious and everything worked well. Loved everything about it.

Hotel lobby was under construction.I felt I should have been informed at time of reservation. Clerk was rushed and gave us incorrect info about buffet which we missed because of it. Hard to park car upon ck-in and wait in road because there was no offstreet place to pull up with no indication that it was ok to stay in road. No ice ever delivered to room after call placed.

My room had recently been refurbished (other floors and the reception area were undergoing refurbishment while I was there). I found the room to be very tastefully decorated and a nice place to spend the time when I wasn't out and about.

There was very little hot water in the bathroom - I had a number of showers that were tepid rather than hot. I reported this to reception when I checked out of the hotel.

Even with the renovation going on the staff made the best of it. When finished and up and back to running smoothly will be a place to treasure.

Group that thought that 3AM was a great time to have a hall-reunion. Not hotel's fault - class and manners seem to be a vanishing commodity.

The staff was very attentive and accomodating. The room was very comfortable and clean. The location was perfect for what we were there for.

The remodeling effectively closed off half of the hotel. The street noise was horrible and you have to pay for valet parking as there is no available parking to the general public (hard to find)especiallly if you are an out of towner like we were.

The staff were every friendly and helpful/ The newly refurbished rooms are lovely with great beds, pillows and showers and big TVs. The place has a nice atmosphere, the restaurant/bar is good and overall it is a very nice place to stay.

The old rooms are crummy (but soon they will all have been refurbished) The as yet unrefurbished public areas are a bit worn, but again soon they will shiny and new.. The lifts are too slow, and despite the double glazing, I found the traffic noise to be intrusive in the bedroom

Historic hotel. Very gracious staff. Wonderful complimentary breakfast. The most comfortable bed! Unique; not a cookie cutter hotel. Views of dt Houston. Proximity to Houston Arts center. A lovely, unique, historic hotel. Felt as if we were in a European hotel. The windows in the hotel room. Brass bath fixtures and marble floors!

Remodeling, but that did not impede our enjoyment of the stay.

The hotel was gorgeous and the staff very helpful and friendly. The complimentary breakfast was a full buffet rather than a continental breakfast. The complimentary shuttle service was fast and the drivers very courteous and helpful. There was a free wine hour in the evening and room service was prompt. This was the very best experience I've ever had at a hotel!

The deluxe room was still very small. I noticed some small cosmetic issues in the restroom, but I assume this was due to the age of the building/amenities themselves.

Overall charm of the hotel and excellent service provided by the staff. Great location for sightseers and for theatre goers as well. Our shower was malfunctioning on our first morning and the situation was repaired within 20 minutes of our call to the front desk. That's impressive!

The Lancaster provided us with the luxury of old world charm. We enjoyed the attitude of the staff which was friendly...and coupled with a can do attitude. It was quiet...yet it reaped of a travel into yesterday. Surrounded by art, along with relics, we felt quite at home

Had to extend for a second week but moved to a different hotel as they doubled the rate due to some conference. I am a regular at the lancaster but this attitude has forced me to re consider future plans. This is not good customer service or the way to treat loyal customers. The Hotel was not full so the rate change is unjustified
