The room itself was a pleasant surprise in contrast to the drab entryway. It appeared that cosmetic improvements had been made with the walls colorfully painted and adorned with rather appealing artwork. The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels and supplies replenished. The location of the motel is a big plus: one block from Ocean Beach, next door to Java Beach cafe, and at the end/beginning of the N-Judah metro muni line (with popular stops along its route including a straight shot to AT&a.
all reviews » We have stayed at this motel three times now. Each time the rooms have been really large and comfortable. Each has a microwave and a refridgerator. The neighborhood is really cute with lots of funky, delicous restaurants. It is one block from the beach and 2 blocks from Golden Gate park. The N Judah line is right outside the motel and will take you to the downtown area. Parking is free which is unusual for SF. For the money, it can't be beat. Don't expect fancy, just roomy and clean. We loved the location of the motel, situated right across from the beach and next to a coffee shop on one side, and a great breakfast spot called Beachside Cafe on the other side. The MUNI right outside the motel was not noisy and very convenient to use! We also loved that the motel had free parking. Our room was spacious, the King bed was comfortable, we appreciated the micro-fridge (in room), and everything was very clean!. Ask for room 118 huge room , Quite, Ocean Beach was a few yards away, Notice the room right away it had very good Feng Shui. Liked the King size Sleigh Bed Frame excellent size for the three of us, Color matching from wall, carpet, ceiling, and the trim along the top the wall, Loved the framed picture above the head board. And loved the video games that was found on Dishtv. I love that the beach is just across the street and that the Cliff House restaurant is in walking distance. I love that the motel is not fancy but that it is comfortable and has all you would want - microwave, fridge, coffee. It is a great value for its location. 1) The location was fantastic. Extremely close to the beach and a lot of nice restaurants and coffee shops. 2) Parking had enough space 3) Room had more than just basics which was unexpected for this price 4) The area feels safe. Close to ocean and metro. Easy trip into Chinatown (45 min) and Fisherman'sWharf (1:15 min). Room was clean and quiet (ask for one facings way from the street). Everything worked and Internet was fast. Well worth the price paid. Quiet, nice staff, clean rooms. Very close to beach. N train takes you all the way (at end of line). Amazing bird watching area. Despite the apparent distance from the UCSF Parnassus Hospital Campus, it's location on the street car line made it an excellent choice for my daughter to stay while I underwent thoracic surgery. I really like this motel: frendly staff, very good and clean room. It is next to an ocean coast and there is a wonderful Java Beach cafe next to it, where you can have a tasty breakfest. Had complementary parking available to the guests of the hotel, the beach was one block away, and two great coffee shops next door. It was spacious and bright inside the room too. It's close to the ocean, that's why I stay there. There isn't an elevator and the rooms are one and two flights up. The hallway carpet to the rooms is dirty. The rooms however are clean. Though parking was free, the spots themselves were very, very compact, narrow, and limited. The motel might want to consider changing or washing the carpeting on the stairway and hallways. They've seen better days. Nosey neighbor kept slamming the door every time they left their room. Nothing really. Just if you are looking for luxury this is not it. The place could be a little bit more clean. It's OK, you don't see any vermin or anything, things look good but if you really really want to search for dust, it'll be there in some corners. Hallway is old but you do not sleep in the hallway. Room was not made up when we got back after 5 on our third day. water pressure in shower low for me because shower head is so high. Noise from adjacent rooms or upper floor rooms can be a problem. Our room was facing the street so it was noisy hearing the Transit every 5 minutes. Walls are thin that you could hear slamming doors, talking, from other guest. The bathroom skylight looked little dirty which should be cleaned in room 128 where we stayed and the glass window that open up to fresh air, the left side doesn't have a screen, so you can easily fall out. Would have liked to have a safe in the room as i didnt feel like the room was secure enough to leave too many valuables laying around. ?Saying that nothing went missing but i would have just felt more secure. Nothing. This is a very basic motel with rather worn rooms and minimal facilities, but if you keep your expectations low, by SFO standards it is very good value. The bathrooms could use towel racks or hooks for wet towels. Tv reception was poor (but one doesn't come to SFO to watch tv in a motel room!). no items. The emergency exit staircases were very rusty and I worry that in case of an emargency they might not work properly. I hope they test them out frequently, but I think they need to be replaced. nothing. bad smell in the hallways. This hotel has no elevator. Rooms do not face the ocean. The coffee maker is not working. It's old, but what do you expect in SF when the location is perfect? The train drives back and forth, back and forth, back and forth outside the window all night. Again, I've lived in SF: what do you expect?. Hallway etc. were not clean (but rooms were). Limited parking in parking lot, but ample on street. Our reservation said check in was 2 pm, but it was 3 pm. Towel bracket broken. AC/ heater unit broken. Little heater was fine. Coffee packets in room. no continental breakfast. The person at the front desk wasn't very frendly. No view. Parking was a bit of a hassle. The lot is small with cramped, awkward spaces. They could update the place sometime. N/a. Dirty carpet in hallways. No elevator, we were on the third floor but it was okay. What was really bad was the lack of cleanliness. Mold in bathrooms and heater/air conditioner is full of dirt. Dust on top of TV cabinet. We like to camp so we lived with the dirt. Toilet wasn't working properly and management seemed unable or unwilling to resolve the problem. There was no ventilator in the bathroom, so that there was wet all the time a little bit noise caused by tram in front of hotel. noise - dirt - dirty windows on third floor. Power saver outlets Not enough parking. The builfing is a little drab and needs an overhaul. Parking was a little tight but manageable even with a Dodge caravan. Stairs and hallways very worn and smelled dirty. The rail buses blocking entrance to parking lot. Weak showers Smelly hallway Creepy parking lot Half of electrical outlets broken. Toilet did not work properly. Towels very threadbare. Halls not clean. Location. .. looks like a lot of transients in the area. Nothing. stairs.
