Great Sushi Bar in lobby (wish they had room delivery, though), convenient location, very helpful concierge, business center accessible at all hours via room key, very comfy bed, quiet (could hardly hear any street noise), housekeeping was very good about coming back to clean my room later in the afternoon even though I'd had the "do not disturb" sign up when they were doing my floor. The hotel exceeded my expectations. While there is work being done to improve the exterior, this is only a minor inconvenience. The staff, contrary to some of the reviews, were extremely pleasant and helpful and the quality of the finishings of the hotel very pleasing. I had requested a small single room but was given a standard room on the 19th floor which very tastefully furnished.

We liked the comfort of our superior room, the location of the hotel, the lovely breakfasts in Raffles and the whole ambience of the hotel and friendliness of the staff from the bellboy through to the cleaning staff for room 404. I was first put in a smoking room although a non-smoking was clearly requested. When I wanted to change, hotel staff first tried to put me away in a ns-room with 1 person bed. After refusing I was offered what was agreed upon in the first place.No free acsses to the internet. Beds were small. Room small.Pillows after the second cleaning of my room were dirty. Mini bar area was never dusted when I came in. Batteries to the webTv were missing. The only thing I did not like about the hotel was the fact that itneeds a some renovation - sometimes a little bit of paint can do a lotof good...I had problems with my door -it would not lock on several occations and had to get the engineer to look at it 3 times. Renovation work on the outside of teh building was going on so that took the look away from the outside. Also, was noisy in the mornings.Food is fair to poor. Included breakfast in room rate is also poor and extras expensive. The room was too small with little wardrobe space.front desk staff - sometimes seemed impatient. Had to request change of rooms as was looking out onto a shell of abuilding and the room was dark with a door missing from the minibar.Reception did not answer the phone when called from that room. Rooms aredark and the carpet on the 23 rd floor looked dirty. The informationsays the hotel has been renovated recently but I appear to have got anold room with people on the elevator taking what. very very small room for this rate. Constantly being asked for tips and being charged from for the mini-bar eventhough we did not use it.
