The hotel was clean and comfortable. The cleaning staff kept us well stocked with fresh towels and plenty of coffee, and they were friendly. The desk staff and the bus boys were knowledgable and extremely helpful and friendly. They were always ready with a quick answer to questions, as well as, recommendations for travel, tours and dining. This may have been the finest hotel staff I have ever encountered!.
all reviews » Hotel is 'as-expected' but 7 blocks from subway in a nothing- special neighbourhood. We had a small issues with our booking through the website : we booked 3, they expected 2 and although a bit stubborn to start they fixed the problem. The gym is ok but the pool hours are too short : 10 to 6pm. Room was small but well appointed, staff all friendly, good location for museums etc. The location had a lovely neighbourhood feel, many small restaurants and shops, close to the East Side River walk While it was a bit of a hike to the subway, we enjoyed the chance to explore. The doorman was extremely nice and helped us park for free for the weekend! The trick? Arrive on Friday evening at about 6:30 p.m. half an hour before the bus lane opposite the hotel becomes free until 7 a.m. Monday morning! Great tip!. Situated in a nice and quiet residential neighborhood with lots of cafes and restaurants just around the corner. It is nice, clean and comfortable. I believe I will be staying here again. We were given no tips for money-saving sightseeing in the city. Given that we had three children with us and NYC is super-expensive, this should have been obvious. A brochure for the City-Pass at least would have been good or a rough idea of entrance prices. True, i could have researched all of that myself online, bur I hadn't. The WIFI did not work in the room at all. Combination shampoo/conditioner didn't perform as described. No cafe/restaurant inside the premises. No crockery/cutlery in kitchenette. Pool was a bit weird - the size was fine but the floor tiling around it was like walking on ice, and the first time we went in it was the temperature of a jacuzzi!. Staff treated us a bit coldly because we were a group of young students. Wi-Fi in the room really slow. The room was getting a bit old and run down. I didn't like the fact that although there was a slot for your room card in elevator you didnt need to use it. For 21st century security I thought this was lacking. The pool access is overly restrictive, which I found disappointing in comparison to the 24 hour gym access. Took longer in a cab to get to TImes Square than I thought. On a rainy Friday morning, took 45 minutes. Better to take subway. Both the wi fi and wire connect forms of the network were in poor condition for the last day of our stay and the staff had no idea how to fix it. There is only one elliptic trainer (cross trainer) in the exercise room and people are constantly standing in line to use it. Room could use some cosmetic updating. Mattress was squishy--need to invest in better quality product. Sofa bed was in pretty bad shape. The city of New York. We received a room with completely wet carpet. But they gave us a different room as soon as we made a complain. The staf is very very bad. no proper meal facilities. Upon departure,we waited for the elevator which ended up being five go arounds and wasn't able to board it due to capacity of guests. So we had to take the stairs from the fifth floor with luggage. Needs more elevators!. elevator - so slow. The carpets and sofas in the rooms were a bit stained. Nothing to eat inside the hotel. location are too far from everything... Too far away from the main attractions of Manhattan, but only a short subway ride away Rooms are very basic Pool is boring. The pool was closed for our entire stay which was a disappointment for the children. Also the pull out bed in our suite was not very comfortable. Terrible swimming pool hours. During check in the Staff Messed up my reservation and gave wrong type of room. I payed for a suite in advance and I was given a 2 queen size bedroom and during check out the hotel was not willing to work with me to solve the problem. No refund or anything. No restaurant, expensive. too expensive for a standard room; no parking. I had to take advantage of the no penalty cancellation (on 24 hours notice) and found that I was charged a premium rate, far in excess of the rates I agreed to, for the 2 nights we used the room. The mattress leaned to the right. You literally rolled off it. There was no light bulb in the fixture. There were hairs in the bathtub. The bathtub drain did not drain. There was either blood or makeup on a pillow case on the bed.
