The staff is pleasant and willing to assist you in any way from getting directions to giving you change for the washer and dryer. We enjoy the hotel's proximity to the beach, but also it is conveniently located close to grocery stores and downtown. The room was fine and quite large. It was equipped with a microwave and fridge. Fantastic location, a few yards away from a long, pleasant beach. Staff was extremely helpful. Nice to have a newspaper in front of our door in the morning.
all reviews » The room is larger than most hotels. One block away from the restaurant and the beach. Not in the busy seaport, and close to the mansion and famous Cliff Walk.The price is right and staff are great. We stayed at the Hotel in November with friends .. We rented 3 rooms, enjoyed our stay.. Three months later was a totally different experience.. Not sure if we'll all come back for a third time.. Large room with refrigerators and microwave. Breakfast provided. Nice staff. Asked and received a late. Checkout. Rusty restaurant next door. Local hangout but good inexpensive food. Clean, comfortable rooms. Close to beach (even though it was March and we weren't hanging at the beach) Close to several restaurants. Walking distance to cliff walk and downtown Newport. Excellent staff this was a perfect location for our needs. We have been to Newport at least 20 times in the pas 15 years and this was one of pour better stays. Everything was great...room size (king suite) was awesome, wicked comfortable and clean. Good view of bay and an amazing price even for off season in Newport. I like the location. The bed was comfortable. I love the food at the Atlantic Beach Club restaurant nearby. The clam chowder is the best in Rhode Island. Very adequate continental breakfast. 1 block from the beach. Room came with 10% off at nearby restaurant. Very helpful staff. great friendly desk staff, larger than expected suite, and a comfortable stroll to the Newport cliff walk and mansions. Liked the location, but felt some what confined on the grounds. Good proximity to downtown newport. Hotel was perfect, staff was helpful and pleasant. There isn't too much not to like. they upgrade every year. Went for the complimentary breakfast 2 days out of 3 days, they ran out of everything ... I should say, they did have fruit loops left.. Couch in rm 105 had a broken spring. Sitting on right side poked you in the back.. When we were there last Nov.we complained about the same stuff.. And still not fixed. Parking not easy. The free breakfast was a bit lacking, half-frozen stale croissants, undercooked sausage, not enough eggs. Carpet was stained and wall paper was peeling in sitting room. Minor, simple repairs would go a long way. The place could use an update on the room furnishings. The TV's didn't have the stations on the listing HBO ect. Had to drive to town. Couldn't walk back. Just a little too long. Very short drive though. The breakfast was a little sparse. Nothing trip was wonderful. We left our room at 9:30 am to go to the beach and at 2:30 our room had not been cleaned. A staff person asked us as we walked in if we wanted our room clean, (she was in the hallway) but by then we wanted to get our of our bathing suits and shower. So we declined. I did notice that the staff cleaning crew gathered in the hallway and chatted for a long time, or were using cell phones. Maid coming in for cleanup needs to give guests time to answer door before they come in. Rubber eggs and greasy sausages not too tasty. Otherwise, nice dining room. The molding along the inside of the room door was coming apart, the tile was cracked from the bathroom into the kitchen area, and the rug was pulled apart from the kitchen area. The only complaint was that the housestaff was quite noisy in the am. During the breakfast there should be tables set up so you can enjoy your meal. Also, the drain in the tub you be cleaned more often so the water does not back up. Our room rec'd no signal for wi-fi, which was noted as being in the hotel; we were told the location of our room was the problem. Continental brkfst. was good one day, but the next day just about every food item had been taken by other guests before 8:45 a.m. (nothing was replenished). :(. I didn't know they were connected with the Comfort Inn across the street, and there was a pool we could use, until we got there. I didn't pack a bathing suit. Nothing. I was familiar with this hotel already and knew it would be a fine experience. breakfast. N/a. to long of a wait for the shuttle ... Parking was tough and the loud band at the bar next door was like it was in our room. We did not get to sleep till after 1am because of it. "Breakfast" is a bit of a joke. could use a little touch up work (bathroom paint peeling from ceiling). Breakfast was the pits not good at all. Amongst the features of the hotel, wifi availability was mentionned. I called before booking to make sure that it was available in the rooms, the staff confirmed it was. I got there and realized that I did not have internet in my room. Asked for another room...no internet there either. Ended up having to exit the room in the hallway everytime I needed to get internet emails etc. I had some work to do on the computer so for me it was a major inconvenience. Could use come plates and knives and forks for fruit etc. Breakfast was weak. Charged for use of safe and didn't realize it. No bar. Comfort Inn blocking the view. Everything else was dirty, or broken, lightbulbs missing, sticky, faucets leaking brown crud, sinks stopped up and wouldn't drain, ants in one room, flies on steroids in another. And this was winter and very cold. Front desk very helpful but only so much she can do for poorly maintained facility. Shower curtains filled with slime and brown hanprints in jacuzzi/tub. Obviously not used. mold on shower ceiling; heaters would not cycle on/off; limited seating for breakfast; dripping faucet. The pull out couch-mattress was so uncomfortable and lumpy that my Grandchildren ended up sleeping on the floor !! At $340.00 per night, I think that these circumstances were appalling. We actually rented two rooms for two nights, costing us $1350.00. P. Rockwal I would like some type of refund of more than 10 percent. Only window looked out on to a biker bar whose music kept us up all night. Room was not nice - no base moulding, duct tape on walls, electrical tape holding the air conditioner together, broken toilet seat, ceilings had patches - very disappointed for the money spent. Water view was not of Ocean. Deceiving. The room smelled like urine and had stains, smear marks all over everything. Wallpaper and furniture was all tattered and stinky. It did not have an ocean view as advertised. There was a large group of drunk men partying in the parking lot right out our window all night long. To top a terrible experience off we found bugs in the bed the following morning. It was absolutely dreadful!!!.
