We really liked the apartment that backed up to the Alaska State Museum. It was very quiet and it was very functional. We cooked every morning and evening - lowering our travel expenses. It was located around the corner from a wonderful restaurant for breakfast and lunch and juat a block from a very well supplied grocery. The staff were very helpful and the shuttles to and from the ferry/airport were very convenient and efficient. Great stay - and we were there 8 nights total!.
all reviews » The efficient and free shuttle to and for the ferry terminal and the airport is a $100 round trip value. The drivers are knowledgeable about the area with good suggestions for hikes, tickets for shuttles to Mendenhall Glacier, etc. computer in lobby for printing boarding passes also helpful. And they let you check in as soon as a room is ready when you come in on a ferry in the early morning. It's location is excellent...It's located right next to the museum and a short walk away from a large market. It was clean and adequate. The staff was very friendly and helpful.It is not a luxurious motel but we expected just what we got...a decent, clean motel near everything we wanted to see. Friendly and helpful staff. Good location - only a short walk to centre of town. Free shuttle service to airport and ferry terminal. Rooms were quiet and comfortable - stayed in 3 different rooms for 3 separate stays and they were all good. Inexpensive to stay here. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and the free shuttle bus was an appreciated bonus. The location is within easy walking distance of the main streets and wharf. Having a kitchen and access to a laundry was useful when traveling for several weeks. Location in downtown Juneau. Shuttle to ferry available 24 hours a day. We had to be at the ferry at 4:15 a. m. and they were prompt to get us there. State Museum is right next door. Deli and a restaurant for breakfast and lunch share parking lot. Shuttle service to airport and ferry terminal at any time, even 3:45am! Kitchenette was very nice, 2 bedrooms worked very well for 2 adults with 2 teen children. Staff helped to give directions and provide ground floor rooms as much as possible. This location is very close to the museums, restaurants, shops, and grocery stores. The rooms are quiet, clean, and reasonably priced. The staff are very helpful. They provide pick-up and drop-off service, so you can get by without a car. Kitchenette was very handy. Staff helpful and noted that somehow we had double-booked and straightened that out for us. No problem getting extra pillows, etc. Shuttle service to/from ferry/airport was appreciated. I like that the motel is close to town and restaurants. Overall its good. not much to say about other than keep the noise down from people who are loud when partying or drinking and loud. We were there during a "heat wave" and there was no air conditioning. Window for our room opened only a little - we had to leave the door open until we went to sleep. Staff very apologetic and said they were out of fans. no lift, however the staff were more than willing to carry our cases up to the room. Slightly older establishment, but wasn't dirty old. It just was still in a 1960/1970 time warp. Could use a slight update that would still keep the charm of the lodge. :). Some furnishings and room fittings quite old and outdated. No elevator to 2nd & 3rd floors so can be awkward with luggage. Undependable wireless. Thin walls, occasional noisy neighbors. In a busy part of town. SInce I was only staying the night, that was not a negative, but someone coming to enjoy Juneau would want more pleasant surroundings. Sorry - have nothing to place in this box. older hotel recently updated, but may have older somewhat loud plumbing. Our first stay was great, but when we returned, about 20 Alaska Airlines pilots were there for a fishing trip and they partied in the room and outside right next to our room until midnight. They were drinking, loud, and totally inconsiderate. There was a designated party room at the end of the building, but that is not where they decided to do their partying. No coffee in the room. Fire alarm went off in middle of night. That I could hear the gentleman below us coughing ALL night, the lady next to us climaxing, and the drunken native woman having an argument and slamming her fists into the railing at 11:35pm. Kinda older facilities. Lounge, bar didn't stay open if there weren't enough people in there. Breakfast food could have been a little better....more food. One day there wasn't enough food...got to the breakfast about an hour or so after it opened, nothing left. Also, could offer yogurt or hard boiled eggs. Twin bed and queen bed was odd, no fridge. We were ib the third floor and would have preferred the first floor. staff lost my pre-paid paper work, but it was resolved without a great hassle. staff was not able to advise me on fixing the TV so it would work. No Saturday shuttle to airport Some noise from neighbors. Nothing. No shampoo. Could use new towels. No shampoo. would like shampoo provided in bath. noisy outside no air conditioning. No elevator to the third floor. no shampoo. crowded space. Needed a fan for each room. WI FI poor in the rooms. Had to go to lounge area by front desk to get decent reception. Didn't particularly like the suite concept; couch was uncomfortable and we prefer to watch tv in bed. No wifi as advertised. Cost of staying in the Juneau area, despite its attractions. Room was described as superior - it actually was tired and worn, with lots of cigarette burns in the carpet. You had to go through one bedroom to get out of the other. Not ideal for adults traveling together. It was marketed as a two bedroom apartment. The two-bedroom unit was supposed to sleep four adults and two children, and have at least one double or queen bed. Instead we had four single beds and no pull-out couch, so the only option for the child in our group was the couch. Room not very clean.
