Our grandchildren ages 8 and 12 absolutely love the pool and beach. We were taking pictures of their sand castles well after dark on a Saturday night. We have stayed at Sandcastle several times before this trip during spring break. Personally, I like the luxurious comfortable bedding, the upgraded kitchens, and comfortable decor of the double bedroom units. The restaurant food was tasty and satisfying; the kids menu (espcially the macaroni and cheese) was very good, too.
all reviews » I enjoyed many of the restaurants in the area and I like the proximity to Seattle, Bellingham and Vancouver. My mother has dementia and the staff are exceptional with her and it is one of the few places we can go to get away where we do not have to worry about her. She is comfortable in the suites and it is nice to have the two bathrooms. The staff were superb, many thanks to Jody. Comfortable furnishings, fixtures. Across from the beach; we could watch the tide ebb and flow and decide when we wanted to go for a walk. Full internet access was important as business details still needed to be accomplished while away from our offices. Kids spent the entire time in the beautifully warm pool on cold er days... the hot tub is very nice. We had a top floor apartment and was able to get Canadian cell service. Kitchen was great, tide flats are very impressive... have to walk up to The C Shop, it is a treat for all. Rooms were quiet, comfortable and clean. Loved seeing the sunset at Birch Bay and the bald eagle outside our window in the morning. We appreciated the maps and historical information provided for us. Great hotel and amenities. Everything about is truly wonderful. If the restaurant downstairs delivered room service it would be even better. Great family hotel. I love the unit, it felt like I was at home. I appreciated the value for that I could invite my older children to join me for not much more cost. Liked the big rooms. Bed was great,kitchen was awesome, the living room with the fireplace was very nice. Even the bathroom was the right size. Very roomy. If I had my family with me it would have been a great place for them. Very quiet. Close to beach, park, and outdoor activities. It was the perfect place to celebrate a 60th birthday with friends. It was wonderful and I can hardly wait to visit again. One bedroom suite was very nice. Good size kitchen, living area, nice bathroom and comfortable bedroom. Loved location. Allowed us to check out 2 hours later which we appreciated! Suite was awesome!. the furnishings were beautiful. the location perfect. great view and very cozy condo. We used the 5th floor party room and it was perfect for the occasion. Location, cleanliness, accommodating staff, friendly staff. everyone on staff was very friendly and accomodating. Loved the pool and beach. Price was great too. It's a relaxing, quiet atmosphere!. Convince of where it is for us. quiet place, relaxing... Location. Good location ! Had the 3 bedroom apartment and it was quite large and comfy. We love everything about Sandcastle and are looking forward to our next excuse to come visit. Some of the bedrooms are a bit tight - probably built without planning for king size beds; still room to get around. The spa was not only closed, but had moved out. It is still a touch pricey for a family to stay longer than a few nights, we got a good deal on letsbookhotel.com but... could have been better. Blaine is a sleepy little town so its not like you should have to pay big city prices. It was a little disappointing that the restaurants in the area did not open until later in the off-season. Did not like that we had to leave so soon. Could of stayed there a few more nights. Needs new carpet but with the economy I understand!!. The shower heads in the bathrooms needs to be changed as they spray all over but on the person. One bedroom suites did not have view of water. The check-in time should be earlier like 3. Check out time should be later like at 11. the bed was VERY uncomfortable. the seedy trashy bar is unpleasant to look at from the deck. Late check out was 11am. The retaraunt was terrible. Very slow service. Food was not good either. Every other aspect of the hotel and surrounding area was amazing. No coffee shop or spa. none. Soft bed and couch. We stayed in a one bedroom condo. It was advertised as sleeping four, which it did. Linens were supplied for the fold out couch. However, only two sets of towels were provided. Deck and railing covered in bird poop.
