A peaceful, relaxing haven in Al-fahidi, part of the old Bastakia Quarter of Dubai - a complete antithesis from the ostentation & consumer driven greed of the remainder of Dubai. Loved the small boutique atmosphere of the 100 year old traditional Arabian house, converted to a unique, very comfortable 10 room hotel, well away from noisy traffic. all reviews » I love everything about the xva - from the moment I step in, I'm transported to a haven of relaxation. Tranquil, peaceful, serene - excellent staff, beautiful rooms, interesting artwork, lovely boutique with unique jewellery, fabrics and clothing, amazing original wind tower architecture, delicious vegetarian food. The Creek and the Souq are on your doorstep, as is the excellent Majlis Gallery. Just a short walk from the nearest Metro station (Al Fahidi). Wonderfully quiet atmospheric place to stay, very easy to stay within its walls and not wander through the local revamped 'old' Bastikaya - which would be a mistake as it is all a world away from the Dubai of high rise resorts and malls. Super quiet as the whole area is pedestrian only. For me, my room was perfect. Food selection is a bit limited but what there is is nice - make sure you have a mint lemonade. Staff very friendly and helpful. This hotel is faultless. We booked a standard room which was meant to be small. We were upgraded to a fantastic room, lucky us! We arrived early morning and when we saw our room it was like those movies when they finally find the oasis. Really!! Service was wonderful, breakfast great. The cabbies dont know where it is (it's in the middle of a number of windhouses) so get the hotel to send you a map to show them. You will love staying there. I found it very relaxing, nice and quiet, the rooms are small but big enough, you can open the shutters and let the natural light in. Lovely terrace with plenty of sitting areas. Below is the courtyard where you you can be served an array of vegeterian dishes and fruit juices. Dubai museum is 3 minutes away. The hotel is in walking distance to the gold souk and spice souk via the water taxi's, 1 dinram. Location was excellent very close to the real centre of Dubai.The Souks are a real experience as is the hustle and bustle of the old town Staff were excellent, to any requirement It is a welcome change to have a more real hotel, rather than the sanitised efficiency of the larger beach hotels. This hotel offers a very unique atmosphere true to old Dubai. In a beautiful and peaceful complex that houses an arabic calligraphy house, a coin museum, a restaurant and several art studios. Beautifully decorated with some thing special around every turn. A lovely stay and unique experience. We got in at midnight and the staff were ready and helful. Were only there one afternoon and it was 44C which made it very difficult to try and explore the Old City. Obviously not XVA Hotel's fault. Weak wi-fi connection. Noise from brief prayer service in the evening and early morning. Cab driver unfamiliar with new name of area. an air conditioned area for breakfast or to relax in. I told The recepcionist to book a taxi for 5:30am next morning and it never showed up. Hard to find initially but apart from that everything was perfect. No safe in room. difficult for the cabbie to find the place. we liked everything. Te pillows were lumpy and prices were missed quoted. the water is very hot. Lack of cold water. Rien en particulier. Breakfast was poorly made and took forever to serve; The rooms are relatively small and the entrances to the doors in the facility have low clearance; one must watch their head so that they do not hit their head.
