The bar and lounge area was fantastically comfortable with great views and a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. The cupboard of kids games was a brilliant idea. Good location, good facilities, friendly staff, dog friendly, easy parking.comfy. The room was hot, well lit and comfortable. Best I have stayed at in a long while.Excellent hotel, the bedroom was first class having views of the lake to die for.

Location and views across lake.I have stayed in some much more exclusive hotels. However although this hotel appears slightly tired in areas the service and friendly approach more than makes up for this. the staff were excellent and the food was fantastic. The views of Lake Windermere were spectacular.friendly staff, comfortable room, good breakfast, nice pool, open view of lake. The stunning views of the lake and the food and service at the resturant. Outsied sign shows that Beech Hill Hotel only (without Richardson). It was a bit misleading when I tried to drive and find hotel. Price of drinks. No, it was better than expected, particularly the food. When we was in the hotel it was -5 degree ant the heating was switched off at the night time.evening bar menu was a little expensive. Bedside lights did not work. It does not have a lift. The TV remote control did not work but tis was remedied for the second night. Booked de-luxe room with jacuzzi etc on basis of dog friendly hotel. Hotel then phoned to say dogs only allowed in standard room (I can understand reason as, although our dog sleeps in a cage and is not allowed to roam around or jump on furniture, some dogs may create mess and hairs which would result in additional cleaning costs etc. Despite the bed being comfortable enough, the room was very small, the ensuite cramped and no jacuzzi!. When we arrived back about 11.30 pm there was no staff around to get us our key, we waited quite a while and walked around trying to find someone, people where also looking for someone to serve at the bar. Eventually I got our own key from behind the desk, but wasn't comfortable doing this. I also had to wait a while when coming in from a walk to get my key as the receptionist was taking a booki. Lack of a lift our room was at the bottom of the hotel and there was 4 flights of stairs, fortunately the lady in reception relocated us she was most helpful. Bathroom door frame rotting and bath panel needed painting and groutingaround tiles on the floor were dirty. Would have preferred duvetsinstead of blankets. The coffee was foul. The original room we had was tired and in need of redecoration.The fancy menu was not to my liking, and i found that i ate away from the hotel, as it was better value for money than paying hotel prices. I felt that the leisure facilities were less satisfying than I was lead to believe from the initial booking. lots of stairs!! dependant on where your room was situated,we only stayed 1 night but had feet like mountain goats by checking out time.I was not entirely comfortable, due to being ethnically "different". Very old fashioned, floor boards were very creaky and walls were paper thin.Thought that the Dinner menu was expensive and the food was often not prepared as well as I expected. The bathroom door had a hole in it, and the bathroom mirror was broken on the edge. Packed lunches only available after 10am, too late. The wing incorporating our room (no.79) is in urgent need of refurbishment to eliminate sagging beds and creaking floorboards. Dressing gowns for swimming pool (which is excellent) should not be charged for.There was absolutely no shelter outside or umberellas for the smokers in the party. number of stairs from bedroom to main reception/restuarant area.The evening meals were rather expense for what you had. This hotel really needs some work done to it. Our room smelt terrible and the bathroom was a disgrace.

Please note that the restaurant only serves evening meals between 18:45 - 20:45. The hotel has 7 floors and unfortunately no lift, due to the unusual design of the building. The property recommends that guests leave luggage in the car during check-in. Once a room has been allocated the property will provide a porter to help with luggage and advise guests of the shortest route from car to room.
