The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, the hotel was in the most amazing location with lake views that were absolutely beautiful. The hotel itself was fabulous from the decor to the food. Our room had the most perfect view of the lakes. Will most definitely be returning. Can't wait... Have already recommended it to friends. rooms were great and very comfortable, the heating came on later in the day and really helped warm us up on a chilly April day. Staff were very friendly and helpful and both breakfast and evening meals were of a very high standard.

We had a huge room with a lovely view and a veranda, but that was too slippy to walk on. The food was excellent, as was the comfort of the room. The views gardens food service and the hotels cosy log fires care and attention to detail the staff were friendly and atentitive will return. Grounds very scenic, good dining area with excellent food and staff. Helpful and polite reception. the staff were very friendly & helpful, food was excellent,the veiws out standing. Lovely room and very nice staff. Situation on Lake Windermere. Bed and food reasonable. The hall was amazing. Beautiful location and some really nice rooms downstairs in the hotel. The only thing I didnt like is that the hotel locked its door overnight so we were locked in and couldnt find the night porter. The only thing we didn't like was that we had to leave the hotel and go back to work on the Monday... We were a bit too warm in our room, and the shower was a bit difficult to use(probably my fault). The staff on reception weren't very sociable and it is a good job I checked our bill as they hadn't charged us for a bottle of wine. Bathroom was fine but bedroom rather dated with shabby curtains. Main public rooms perhaps a little overdone with the 'antique' look. The bar was poor as had held 2 weddings over previous weekend, and no plan to restock before the next Wednesday. So extremely poor business planning. Fail to plan = plan to fail. Standard of furniture in bedroom, especially the dilapidated bed. Spoilt what was an outstanding stay. touch more luxury , bath robes and slippers, turn down service , slower more relaxed service at dinner. No steak knife with the steak was the main complaint!!. £75 for a bar snack was a bit of a shock. We went as three friends and two of us had super rooms, but one had a cold room and and no quilt on the bed!. The price was a bit to expensive. No hot water in bathroom of room No 2. Bedrooms a bit tired. The weather. Room needs to be brought up to the standard.....superior. As you are charging for this and there are things missing. Price. Weather. Found the beds (room 81) very uncomfortable, extremely hard, pillows very thin. Nice room but heating erratic, washbasin was cracked. No lights on in the hallways and stairs down to my room, which was cold - not a very welcoming first impression. Sat by one of the log fires for a nightcap but were told to leave the guard in front of the fire which muted the sense of indulgence somewhat. Bar very poor with very limited choice of beers. Bathroom in room 8 very small. Breakfast cold on first morning but not bad on second. The hotel was tired. The food was only just adequate. Breakfast was significantly better than dinner. Chairs in dining room not fit for purpose Lighting in room kept going off. Unable to shower and use bathroom as no lighting. The room was so cold on arrival that the staff had to bring in a small heater, the underfloor heating took 6 hrs to get near warm. The room was massively over priced and noisy with various features broken. Balcony was unusable because the decking wasn't kept clear of grime build up. Food was bad, flavours lost due to bad cooking and far too salty. Staff were generally friendly but unprofessional. They tried to treat us like uni students instead of the paying guests that we were. Restaurant- dinner was not good vfm. Trying to be a fine dining experience but failing. Stop trying so hard and be honest with yourselves! Restaurant manager (female) attitude not good. staff was really clueless about trips around and the service in the hotel is really slow.
