  The staff are welcoming and extremely helpful. The Mortal Man is a traditional old man set in beautiful countryside with some lovely walks near by. The food is very good and the breakfast menu is excellent, made more lovely by sitting in the dining room overlooking the scenery. The beds are comfortable, water piping hot for a nice soak in a bath... what people say » along with lovely "smellies" for relaxation! - We stayed in the four poster room for the second time, its so lovely with fantastic views. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming. There's such a good choice for breakfast and this time we had dinner, wow gorgeous food Can't wait to go back again :-)

  The location was superb. In the entrance was comfy sofas and a wood burning fire very cosy. The evening meals were huge portions and yummy. The view from the kitchen was spectacular. All the facilities such as showers and toilets were clean and lots of hot water.   this was our first visit to the lamplighter we were very impressed with the friendliness of all the staff we arrived with our 2 cavalier dogs who were made a big fuss of we also were asked if we wanted to eat in a separate room so the dogs could be with us which we declined as they are more than happy to stay in their sleeping crate .the breakfas... what people say » t was superb as were the meals in the restaurant at night initially we were only going to eat in there one night but it was so good we ate every nig - The innkeepers were charming! The hotels rooms newly decorated and the kingsize beds very comfortable with lovely pillows. The breakfast was also particularly delicious, with fresh juices, Greek yogurt with berry compote for example. They accommodated well for special vegetarian requests, even going out for veggie sausage for us for our second day's breakfast. Well done and thank you for a fantastic stay! Mr and Mrs Ryan

  We were greeted by a very friendly man who couldn't do enough for us. He allowed us into our room much earlier than usual as we wanted to get ready for a wedding nearby. The room was lovely, clean and had all the necessary bits and bobs we needed (including a hand-held magnifying mirror!). Beds were comfortable, the bathroom was light and clean. ... what people say » Breakfast was good, plenty of it and good, prompt service. Would recommend this hotel to others. - A lovely inn with good, clean rooms and a good sized ensuite bathroom ..and, at times, a working TV... sinceours didn't work!. However, everybody pulled out all the stops to get the TV in working order; alas, it was not to be. We were offered free drinks as compensation in the pub, which we appreciated very much. Other than this amusing story, we had a great time in this lovely place and would definitely go back!

The hotel was excellent, food excellent, facilities excellent, and staff extremely helpful. It was my birthday during the stay and after a day out I returned to find a card and gift from the owners. A lovely touch.
