    Friendly owners who make you feel like you are welcome into their home and who greeted us like old friends, remembering us from a single short visit we had made last summer. All the staff are friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere in Fairfield House is relaxed and cosy, and the garden is full of birdsong. My partner and I wouldn't bother trying ... what people say » to find alternative accommodation in any future visits to the Lake District...why would we when Fairfield House has become such a significant part of - Beautiful period house and garden located in quiet country lane with glorious walks into the hills directly behind. Walk below into the quaint village of Bowness. We loved having the excellent breakfasts and heading straight out behind the house for hill walks with tremendous views over Windermere. Extremely comfortable, clean room and all necessary facilities. Staff were lovely and welcoming. Would happily stay again and definitely recommend.

    The place was decorated beautifully. In-fact it was stunning. Although in a row of lovely old houses, i wasnt prepared for what lay inside. Very light,bright,chic,and modern.     We stayed at the Hare & Hounds for three nights and had a wonderful time there. We booked the standard room which although small was very cosy, well equipped and had a great en-suite ( really good size with a very powerful shower). The Hare & Hounds is in a lovely peaceful rural location, serves delicious food in it's very popular,bar/rest... what people say » aurant (we ate there every night).and is owned and managed by Kerry and assisted by her parents and staff all of whom were always helpful, friendly an - Beautiful rooms that you wanted to spend time in. Lovely old bar that serves excellent food from a great menu. No need to use your car at all if you want peace,views, walks and good food and drink. Kerry is an excellent host - nothing's too much trouble.

    The staff were the most friendliest people we have ever come across! The rooms were spotless! The location was ideal for walking in the town of Ambleside and to get a boat ride to the other locations such as bowness. Parking arou - The spotless room, it was ever so comfortable and clean. The breakfast was delicious! Plenty of choice. Ola and Peter were exceptionally friendly and cheerful and really made you feel welcome. Loved the complimentary bottle of water and biscuits that we received in our room on both days we stayed. Location is great, it is in walking distance of all the shops in Ambleside. We did a lovely walk to Grasmere while we stayed there.     We were met with a pot of tea and cake which was lovely after our journey. Paul was very helpful re things to do in the area and lots of info on local walks etc. The room was small but had everything we could possibly have needed and the bed was so comfortable! The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and I also found that the recommendations of places to eat and sites to see were superb. I would definately stay again and strongly encourage others to do so. An all round excellent hotel which is perfect for a stay in the beautiful surrounding area.

    Before our arrival Ethna the owner contacted us by email, allowing us to check in earlier than the 3pm stated on their website. The location is fantastic, easily accessible by car, with a reserved parking space included in the price of the room. It is set away from the main roads that run through Ambleside, meaning you have little to no vehicles ... what people say » passing during the day or night which is a bonus. The town centre is easily accessible from a few different paths and staircases that lead straight in - We hadn't stayed in a B and B before but this was one of the most wonderful experiences from start to end. Ethna welcomed us very warmly and made us feel at home throughout our whole stay. Ethna is very friendly, with a lovely sense of humour as well as being very knowledgeable and helpful about the breath-taking surrounding area.     The room had an amazing view of the lake and its surroundings. It was very nicely decorated, spotlessly clean and felt very cosy and homely. The owners were very welcoming and helpful.     Lacet House is in a great location, very close, literally to the town centre of Ambleside. The host Catherine made my 83 year old mother and I very welcome. We received old fashioned hospitality. It is a small guest house so it feels like bringing your lounge room! We booked 6 months ahead from Australia ans got a very competitive rate. Very good ... what people say » value accommodation. The guest house also has some parking fro guests, a big plus generally in England. - Such a lovely place to stay where the owners were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. They went above and beyond expectations! Great location right in the middle of Ambleside. Modern well presented rooms with very comfortable beds!
