    We have been coming here for several years now, and three things always stand out: the hotel's amazingly beautiful shore side location; the easygoing friendliness of all the staff; and the consistent excellence of the food, in particular the impressive breakfasts which would easily fuel the most energetic ramblers. But what makes us return time and again is that indefinably special something; although it's a huge rambling Georgian pile, it feels like a - The hotel is superbly located by the lake with long vistas across the water. The three rooms taken by our party were excellent, beautifully furnished and extremely comfortable and spacious. The reception areas, lounges and card room were likewise spacious and well-furnished. Real fires in the early Autumn give a special welcome. The staff were anxious to please and very pleasant at all times.The meals were very good with quality ingredients.

    We stayed in the new Silver Suite - it was extremely comfortable with a most beautiful view across the water. Needless to say, but the food was magnificently presented and absolutely delicious. The staff were exceptionally courteous and delightfully friendly. You felt you were staying with friends. The owner has an excellent `hands on` style of ma... what people say » nagement which manifests itself in a very well run, friendly organisation. We certainly hope to visit again. - Warm, friendly welcome on arrival and kind assistance from Russell. Comfortable room with magnificent view of the lake. We had originally booked for two nights but had to leave after just one night due to family reasons - hotel staff were very kind in this regard. Excellent breakfast.

    Booked through letsbookhotel.com but on arrival we found out that letsbookhotel.com did not forward our details and therefore found that there were no rooms available. The owner and manager went out of his way to find us a local B&B for the first night and luckily had a delux room available for our second night.     We choose this hotel because of the reviews and it did not disapoint, it was immaculate, really nice building and superb rooms. We received a warm welcome and the hotel was in a great location. The breakfast was really good, worth getting out of bed for.     From the welcoming tea and cake to a heartfelt goodbye from Tim, one of the two owners - more like hosts than proprietors - everything was first rate. The superior room we booked overlooked gardens and a park which we could view from the large windows or from the deck attached to the room.     A return visit for 3 nights, after a 16 year gap! The hotel has changed hands since then and is almost unrecognisable from the previous visit. I felt very welcome from the minute I stepped through the door, especially as it was the first time I'd stayed away on my own. As we are both vegetarian we were delighted to discover that the restaurant had a separate and varied vegetarian menu and were able to accommodate us as a late booking.
