  Well we liked everything at Arkelside Country Guest House. Hannah, Terry and the teenage helper were so friendly and helpful. The Annex with bedroom(ensuite bathroom) and spacious living room was great for my husband and I. There were 3 heaters on full so the rooms were toasty. Decor throughout is very simple and tasteful. No view from the annex b... what people say » ut who cares. Outside there are breathtaking views 360 and from the main lounge and dining room. We loved the privacy and space in the Annex. It was a - Hanna & Terry are great host, nothing is too much trouble and we really enjoyed our stay. the views and location are amazing and it is well located for walks, visiting the dales plus local pubs within easy walking distance that also provide evening meals

Music night on Thursday suited us down to the ground - local musicians (four guitars, a fiddle and mandolin) singing anything they fancied. Good sized room and comfortable bed. Imaginative menu translated into delicious meals, with good sized portions. Breakfast warrants a special me... what people say » ntion: marinaded fruits and home made marmalades accompanied a good and proper English breakfast. - Great little place, dog friendly, really good menu for evening meals at the pub, location is perfect for exploring Swaledale. It's a pub and the bar stays open late, which we liked but the noise does carry to the bedrooms. Did not disturb us at all: slept like a log on comfortable bed, but might be annoying for some.

  Staying in the camping pod was a great experience, close to nature but with a few creature comforts. They are roomier than I expected, and each has its own heater and bedside lamp; outside there is a light, picnic table and a brick for BBQing on. The reception also serves as a bar, serving local Black Sheep ales and other standards. - Lovely old building, very open and stunning views. Clean, refurbished room (beautifully clean carpets, window seats in bedroom, beautiful wet-room) It made me feel like we could take our shoes off in the bedroom and walk around with bare feet!). We stayed in a dorm for 6 with en-suite.Beautiful cooked breakfast and very good evening meal. Very friendly young guy there who made us feel welcome. The pods were spotless, so maybe next-time!
