Its position was brilliant - so accessible to the tube - the fact that breakfast was included. It was a decent size room and was clean. Also the ladies serving in the breakfast room were lovely - friendly and helpful and knew exactly what we wanted and very happy to mix and match breakfasts. And when I asked for only egg they gave me two ! That the big bus tour started there ( but didnt finish there the day we did it so was a bit of a trek back to the hotel - not the hotel's fault.).
all reviews » Very poor reviews on the internet nearly led me to cancel this hotel however for the price we paid it really was excellent - friendly staff, clean rooms ,sheets and towels also spotless and clean towels every day.Breakfast which was included was a decent full English or continental . Its location to paddington was a big plus perfect for a couple of nights away. Though relatively small the room was clean and well appointed. Very comfortable double bed. Compact but very adequate bathroom with good shower, soaps, gel, towels etc. Good breakfast choice between full English or continental. Many hotels of this calibre do not offer a full English breakfast.Gave me a lower floor room as requested. Staff was very kind. Location excellent, very close to Paddington station. Bed is good, clean sheets, clean towels every day. Continental breakfast nice. Big Bus hop on-hop off stopped in front of the hotel. Pub, supermarket and some restaurants near by. For his price we did not expect luxury. Excellent location close to paddington station and buses so easy to carry luggage. Stayed here last year and this time had a larger room with a bath which was a lovely surprise. Breakfast was great although we did have to wait for seating on the third day. Room cleaned daily with fresh towels. Previous reviews made me a bit worried about this hotel. Instead the room was ok and the position is amazing!. It is in city center, it has the tube at less than one minute walk and at few steps from it there are lots of lovely restaurants. I will consider again for future trips in London!. Arrived hotel at 745am and asked for room. Was advised nothing available until 2pm as hotel was booked full the day before. I sat in the lobby for 2 hours but the clerk gave me the first available room at 10am which was truly appreciated. I will stay here again on my next trip to London. Very clean, cosy,very good value for money , accessible to transport into the rest of Londo..soap and breakfast included in the room rate, which some 'big ' chain hotels do not offer. Am definitely coming again and will recommend the Royal Norfolk to anyone on a budget trip. The location was superb, just a minute from Paddington Station. The choice of breakfast in the morning. The english breakfast was cooked to order, even giving you an option of 3 types cooked egg. More toast and coffee also a nice touch. Comfortable bed. The hotel was perfect for us, the staff were very nice and helpful. Th e price was very good and the breakfast was first class, we had unlimited toast and coffee and juice. we would definitely stay their again in fact we will go again in a few months. Location is excellent for Heathrow Express. Staff were helpful storing my luggage and even carrying bag to my room on 2nd floor. Great location - 20 meters from Paddington train and underground station, a lot of pubs/restaurants in that area. Quiet close to Hyde-Park, shopping area and city center. Clean hotel, towels changed daily, continental or english breakfast is ok. The price, location, helpfulness of the staff for directions & suggesting places off interest to go and see, the full English breakfast included in the room rate plus being leave my case with them before getting a train home late evening. The location, the room was very clean if a bit small, and the bath room look as if it had been refurbished and also very clean. The breakfast was great, so nice to have waitress served, very rare these days even in the expensive hotels. I was delighted it is so close to Paddington Station and open for checking in later in the evening. Bed was comfortable and plenty of hot water and breakfast included was more than adequate. The lift was not working but the location of one of our rooms was changed to first floor to help less mobile guests. When you flushed toilet it resounded with a thunderclap! You could not have cereal and the Full( but modest sized) English breakfast. Noisy neigbours, walls very thin. Curtains old, not clean. Carpets damaged and fixed with Ducttape. Room very small, bathroom very small, hot water for 2 minutes only. The guy on reception on our arrival was quite rude and unhelpful. Expensive WiFi - which was very slow. Room facing street was noisy at night - we did ask for a quiet room. No fridge in room. Elevator still not working. That you could not check in until 2pm but the room clerk gave me the first available room at 10am. Bathroom very, very small and the shower could overflow as the water didn't drain away fast enough. Old hotel, small rooms, facilities are old. Lift is constantly broken. Still it's a good hotel for budget stay. The en-suite was a bit small, but it did the job. The corridor leading to the room was dirty and tired looking. The gents toilet door in the corridor was very grubby. It just needs a little TLC. Lift was not working and stairs are steep. we liked everything. Paid wi-fi. There is no lift and the porters did their best. Lack of elevator. The decor needs a facelift. could do with a lift or have porter service as cases were hard to get up the stairs. the smell of the kitchen fans out side the window..our loo also didnt flush. Lots of steps! If you have an issue with that - better ask for a room on one of the lower floors. Wifi would have cost £5 per day, £2 per hour. No thanks! Rather use the free wifi available in pubs nearby. Poor welcome at reception. The interior decor could do with a lift - worn carpets and rather jaded furnishings. A damaged toilet seat might have been replaced. I'd booked a twin bedded room which turned out to be rather small for two - suit a single!. A little inconvenient when you have heavy luggage to get to the Kent wing. no elevator. Floor was very slanted in room, seems from a water issue? Maybe damp in the carpet?. the continental breakfast was not very good but the English breakfast looked fine. That I had no bedside table - there was only one and that the duvet was smaller than the duvet cover !. there is nothing I didn't like. The bathroom was compact to say the least but a small quibble at this price. Stairs - lift out of action (but good porter available). Wait for crowded breakfast Sunday so need system to spread crowd/book a time. Noise from nearby tavern at times. Lifts not operating Windows hard to open/close TV plugs behind the screen need adjustment to get clearer reception. Elevator didn't work, (I gather it's been out of order for a long time). Alot of stairs - I didn't mind this too much but my real complaint was the shower - totally unusable as there is simply NO SPACE to stand in it! Also no coat pegs or anywhere to hang anything. Decor tired and dated Bathroom very old fashioned and no shower curtain! Old windows let in lots of noise from street and cold draught. room on the 3rd floor with no lift - but had a laugh getting up them anyway - had to sit on the steps outside in our pyjamas to have a smoke. Hallways were depressing and require updating. A nauseous smell on the stairs near the ladies and gents toilets, took a long time for the water to run hot, especially when wanting a shower. hanging space tight only space for 5 hangers! room quite small no lift. shower curtain too short = wet floor in shower room. Internet was not working for 3 days. small and tired looking bathroom funny smell when we arrived in the reception area.
