It is a comfortable, well-appointed base for touring, sporting or business travellers, and has enthusiastic and caring staff. Sensibly priced, seriously good food is also served in the informal restaurant and bar, and is based on fine locally-sourced ingredients.

clean,comfortable beds & plenty hot water, all needed after a long car trip from Edinburgh & some stops,Falkirk Wheel, Loch Lomond etc. Breakfast Buffet was very good, everything there you could ask for, including haggis, black pudding I had long ago told my kids & grandkids about, They loved it!. Great location, very friendly and helpful staff, cosy warm room, great breakfast, good bar and the evening entertainment, acoustic duo Philmari, was most enjoyable and perfectly suited to the surroundings.
all reviews » Excellent hotel with great value for money The staff were very friendly and helpful. The family room was very well equipped and had everything we needed. Very clean throughout. Food was amazing!!. Food and general atmosphere was good and the hotel catered for hill walkers. It's location was ideal for several Munros and Corbetts in the area. The staff were all in good humour and very courteous. we liked the excellent comfort of the bed and the duvet, sadly let down by a large hole in in. The flower and plant arrangements everywhere were lovely; unobtrusive but adding to the ambience. very accommodating to us and gave us an extra room for the kids at no charge when they weren't busy. Lovely pastries for breakfast! Excellent location when doing the West Highland Way. Very conveniently located, and extremely comfortable room of a good size. Restaurant and bar in the evening had a good choice with great service, and breakfast in the morning was good. Excellent dinner menu and lovely food. We asked "what was the soup of the day, told us potato leek, we got Carrot/cumin" We accepted it,but they seemed a bit overwhelmed overall!. The price of crisps at the bar is a bit excessive... Lack of hot water on the Saturday and Sunday evenings between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. because the hotel was busy. However £20 was taken off our bill to compensate for this. we were overlooked in the restaurant and after 25 minutes had to ask someone to take our order. Also the food, which we understood had some rosettes, was very disappointing. Nothing. Mattress was hard and lumpy, so not very comfortable. Was expecting some complimentary shower gel or shampoo because of the star rating of the hotel, but only soap available. Something we reading the info made us unsure about whether we could drink the tap water. Tried to get water from the reception but no one there and no water in the machine . Stuffed animals in dining room. No alcohol free beer Limited soft drinks. Bar very small did not know where you could go and sit with your drink. Managers suit needed a clean as there was visible sweat marks. nothing. The room we stayed in, room 204 was very pleasanr but the bathroom was very 'tired' looking and was in need of a complete refurb. Odd patches of damp on the ceiling and grubby sealing around the bath and tiled areas. decor a bit tired. Shower was poor. Lack of zero alcohol beers. Limited and uninspired food. The fish in batter was stale. No phone signal in the room, no internet signal. Room was too hot. The dining experience was not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. Very slow service and a somewhat careless attitude by the staff waiting at table. Unusual and slightly creepy decor too - many stuffed animals!. This is an old and kind of funky hotel. My room smelled weird and the shower was positively hazardous!. reception was not exactly welcoming. very unpractical shower fixed to bath taps. Booking including diner had no financial advantage although suggested when booking. road noise. No shower in the room!. Well you get what you pay for and I didnt expect the Ritz, Rooms were clean small and basic .....flashback from the early 70's. The room that we were allocated was very dated. There was no shower in the en-suite which is unbelievable. The room was a step back in time and the standard is just not good enough for today. We had a very late check-in and as the hotel was full, we were unable to change rooms. Tired looking rooms and a really uncomfortable bed. Room was really bad, there was no TV in the room. Room size was smaller then normal toilet size. All floors around is squeaky that gives no chance to sleep.
