Our 3rd floor room was clean, well equipped with towels and toilet sundries. Heating system was excellent and we liked the facility of being able to open the window for extra ventilation. The tea/coffee- making facilities were very good and there was no problem obtaining extra milks etc from the trolley. They gave us interconnecting rooms for us and our 2 grandchildren age 13 and 11 which was ideal. the room was pleasant and clean, it was in an ideal position for the shopping centre and the Mermaid Quay and the Dr Who experience all within easy walking distance. The breakfast was ok the continental part much better than the hot food.Good choice of drinks and proper orange etc. Good value for what we paid. superb friendly service from reception staff - a great credit to the Holiday Inn chain. There was also ample parking outside the hotel too. Functional hotel close to, but not on Cardiff Bay. Good size and std of rooms. Breakfast OK, but everything self service, meaning a lot of to and fro from the table. Staff very helpful. we were welcomed by the receptionist and was offered the choice of the Canal View room which was lovely. the staff were welcoming. only one issue but will defiantly stay again. We've stayed at many Holiday Inn hotels and have generally found them to be comfortable and, most of all, clean! One drawback in this hotel was our uncomfortable bed. The mattress tended to push you to the edge of the bed and it seemed lumpy! I'm sorry I can't give you a more precise description. However, we slept well!. There wasn't a great deal to dislike, wasn't impressed with the cooked breakfast, beans and sausages tasted like cheap versions. Always plenty of it though. it was unfortunate that the lift was broken whilst there for the 3 nights, nothing could be done about that though. Breakfast got very crowded at times difficulty in finding places for the 4 of us to sit. Everyone seemed to favour 8.30 to 9am.Thought the wifi very expensive for the girls to use for leisure. fact that wifi access terminated on the morning we left well before 11am. - The walkway along the dock was very poorly maintained (lots of weeds), like the entire dock looked very run down. - The spider and the cobwebs!. The downfalls being the shower was cold on one morning. Was surprised a car parking charge was made! Lift on second floor was not working, and we struggled to carry our suitcase down the stairs!. Fact there were no lunch/evening meals. We were so relaxed we'd have probably eaten en. Also £6.50 for a glass of wine which didn't even reach the mark was a bit steep. The staff were so nice I didn't like to complain. The breakfast room was a bit cold but I think it was only because it's all windows and I'm sure is lovely on a sunny day. the night staff were just sat at reception or on the gambling machine which didn't look professional. from being a night manager in a hotel my self I dint find it professional expectable. apart from that all was good. Rooms are showing their age (Room 325: leaky shower hose, leaky shower head, slow shower drain, tv remote coming apart); breakfast offering needs to be improved (hot food at breakfast was not particularly attractive, there was limited fruit (bananas and red apples) available and the coffee from the coffee machines was a mistake I only made once); overall very expensive (80+ pounds per night) for very little. Breakfast area was small and too crowded. Hot selection of food at breakfast, only sausage scrambled egg and baked beans, a bit boring when you are staying for 4 nights. Could have done with more comfortable seating in room rather than the bed-settee. The lack of space in the dinning area for breakfast, having to wait for a table to become free. The fact the lift was out of order, was not good.Especially for people with disabilities. Breakfast was very minimal and to crowded (not enough tables). Not enough coffee and milk in the room. However, we did ask reception for a couple more sachets and they were happy to provide. parking fees extra and very expensive wifi costs 6-50 an hour car costs added to our stay at five pounds a night. Breakfast OK but not great. Bedroom smallish but for one or two nights - fine. The matrass on the bed was just a bit lumpy. This hotel allow dogs in rooms and the restaurant, which we were not happy about. £108 felt a bit extravagant. Not sure if we would do it again purely for that reason. Nothing. Room was quite cold, even with the thermostat on full. The tv is not normal freeview so only limited channels available. Free wifi needs improving as new access code needed every day. The door key card didn't always work. the hairdryer the pillows the fact the hot water in the shower didn't last long. We would have prefered to not have sausage every morning it would have been nice to alternate it with bacon perhaps, and fried eggs instead of scrambled. I couldn' get an iron as they were all out but the staff didsn't know who which rooms they had hired the irons to. I would suggest a note is made of where they are. The extremely poor shower! Reduced almost to a trickle a lot of the time. Being charged £5 per night for the car park. Extra charges for car park and wifi. The outside are was not cleaning well. There was nothing that i didn't like. Too much extra cost. WiFI and ringing the local takeaway to order food all added to bill. the shower was very very slow and room facilities were basic. noise from traffic opposite.
