Ample free parking is available, and a range of theme nights and live music are on offer in the on-site pub. Homemade Yorkshire puddings served with real gravy are served with Sunday lunch, which also features mature British beef, lamb, pork and turkey. A full English breakfast buffet is also on offer from 7:00 daily. Two full-size snooker tables are on offer in the games room and quiz nights are hosted in the pub each week. A children’s playground can be found within a 2-minute walk. Alnwick Castle, famous for the Harry Potter films, is just 21 minutes' drive away from The Trap Inn. Newcastle city centre is just a 40-minute drive, and Druridge Bay Country Park is only 2.6 miles away. The A1 motorway and Warkworth Castle can both be reached in a 10-minute drive.

We have never stayed in such a friendly place! The staff go above and beyond good service, with personal touches which are thoughtful and genuine - completely spoiling children! The food was also great - home- made, tasty and good value for money. The bedroom and ensuite were spacious, comfortable and clean, and parking was provided. Friendly and effective staff, very willing to accommodate my needs (very early breakfast on a Sunday). Quiet room. Clean linen and bathroom. Good shower. Lovely toasted hand & cheese sandwiches! Fast wifi from bar. Comfy bed.

The only very slight issue we had was with music noise from the bar, but that was because one of our party was a child who had an early bedtime. We were aware this may happen when we booked however, and the owners did try to accommodate our request for a quiet room. It was only a minor issue though, and certainly didn't spoil our stay in any way. WiFi not available from my room (signal strength insufficient) - although from bar was excellent. Although the food was very nice and well cooked, too many dishes supplied with chips. (would not stop me going back again). Only 1 real ale on!. The food wasn't vegetarian friendly. I had read in previous reviews that nylon sheets were often used. I requested cotton on booking but sadly was let down and arrived too late and too tired to complain. I ordered cod and chips and knowing my fish found it actually to be hake but it was passable. I did find it odd to have a room without a window and no extractor in the bathroom. Only bath. No shower. Absolutely nothing comes to mind. nothing. Decor very dated. Nothing. Quite expensive for the room standard, although admittedly I left it until the last minute to book. I wake up through the night quite often and I like some fresh air but I could not go out because everywhere was alarmed you have to wait until the owners open up which was approx 7.30 so I had no chance of an early walk I also felt trapped because I had no window in my room but it as not put me off staying there again. Steamed up secondary double glazing. Damp smell.No bedside tables or bedside lights. Needs full modernisation. Poor vegetarian breakfast. Dirty and messy corridors. Blanket on old sofa in bedroom. Inadequate wardrobe facilities over kettle! Grim!. The"room"had no windows not declared in the booking information. It was a hot evening ,no air nor natural light-horrendous. Not an acceptable venue. Also VERY noisy viz entertainment until midnight . The whole hotel over charged originally £40 when I got there the very rude manager said there was a mistake and the charge is £80!! The room was disgusting rusty radiators unable to lower heating down fold out bed!! The manager was very unwelcoming and rude not appropriate for family stay!! Have no consideration for the noise levels from the pub!! The food is absolutely disgusting and over priced!! As we were eating our breakfast the manageress hovered over me for payment.
