The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a large room with 3 single beds and plent of room to walk around. The view was amazing, and perfect for us to get ready in and crash for one night. The rooms need a little TLC but for the price you pay it was clean and comfy enough for a short stay! Check out was at 10.30am but for £5 we extended this to an hour later which was perfect. You're a short walk to the Lanes and the beach front so location is ideal.
all reviews » Staff were generally friendly. The room was very 'homely' even though it was obviously a very old building. Was cosy at night. The area wasn't too noisy even though it was on the beach. Very pleased with my stay, already planning to stay here again when me and my friend next visit Brighton. For a two star hotel the facilities were fantastic. It had a recently refurbished bathroom and the clean tidy rooms with crisp sheets and brand new towels made it a very pleasant stay. Being a little bit off the main road meant it wasn't that noisy at night with the window open either. The room was extremely modern and well equipped- much better than we had imagined for such a cheap hotel. The staff were also very friendly and willing to help with any queries we had. We had a quad room which was a good size and had a kitchenette with a fridge which was very useful. I also liked that there were clean towels on each bed for showering etc. The staff were really friendly. We arrived mid morning and were still greeted with a smile and told our room was ready. A small gift on arrival was a nice touch. On looking at the outer decor of the building, it is a brilliant surprise to find spacious, accommodating and well designed clean rooms with a sea view. Price was excellent and lived the kitchenette that I was not expecting and as no breakfast it was perfect for doing self catered breakfast. Perfect location, good room with great bathroom and general facilities. Warm. Staff friendly and helpful. 11 am check out on Sunday. Recently renovated large rooms and shower room!! Clean and tidy! Good heating! Near all attractions! Plenty of restaurants nearby!. Bedroom was spacious, clean, bed was very comfy, plenty of storage space. En-suite shower room was modern, clean and a good size. The room was very comfortable with an excellent bathroom and even a kitchenette! I was treated very well by the staff, thank you. The location was perfect and the cleanliness of the room was fab. Smooth hassle free operation with friendly helpful staff. The room we stayed in had 3 big windows and asmall on. The 3 large windows had curtains but the 4th smaller windo didn't - nothing major but slightly annoying. On of the beds was also right up against a radiator so my firend woke up roasting. The only negative was that we were only supplied with one pillow, but when we asked at reception for another they were very helpful. Only very small negatives- the windows could done with a clean and new curtains would have been good too. The check-out time was quite early. Would be useful to have a hair dryer in the room, especially as we were in Brighton in December and didn't want to leave the hotel in the morning with wet hair. More sugar sachets for tea & coffee would also have been useful. The room was a bit pricey at £150 a night. There was nothing to warrant the expense as the room was very basic and no breakfast. A bit of artwork would be really nice to add a touch of colour to the room. There is some beautiful artwork in the foyer so the owner must appreciate art. The only thing that let's this building down, and I say it as nitpicking is the corridors and lift, nothing a luck of paint and new carpet won't fix. Pillows - it really would not be a massive expense to provide 2 pillows per guest as I had uncomfortable night also very very noisy other guests both on corridors and room above. General hotel areas were a little battered- but room clean and new. Not really a problem for us. Room was noisy with noise from side street! New double glazing needed! Very pricey! But your paying for location!. Hotel decor was very shabby with stained carpets in the corridors. It really could do with redecoration and new carpets. Nothing really. The lift could do with a clean and a bit of air freshener!. Needs decorating and bedroom furniture matching. Hotel advised us to park in a certain car park and it cost us £22 over night when they said it would be a tenner. The couldn't communicate perfectly in English. The fact that we need to check out at 10.30am... After a nite out in town was really early would advice to go forward to 12 on Sunday apart from that.. All was fine. Pillows were terrible/non existent Staff spoke broken English. Floors could have been cleaner. Only one roll of toilet paper in room had to ask for more. Lift carpet was filthy should have been hoovered. Was noisy outside in thé night. Narrow hallways. As I explained to the reception staff on my departure.....the only criticism I had was that, the room only had one plug socket, which to me was an annoyance. was a little concerned about the level of condensation on and around the windows looked like they hadn't been cleaned properly in a while or opened. Lack of plug sockets. Noisy, inconsiderate other guests, very poor. Middle of night, early morning - like being in student halls. Not the hotels fault!. The reception area and corridors could use a refresh but a big deal. n/a. No dressing mirror in bedroom. No comfy sofa. Only one bedside cabinet for a twin bed room. BRIGHTON CAR PARKING CHARGES AWFUL £3.60 for one hour or £10 for 4 hours. Public areas shabby But didn't impact our stay. room was a bit dated - but excellent sea view. Tired communal areas, poor TV signal,. rooms are very standard. Nothing. The lift was a little dirty. early checkout. Room was very hot. Price a little dear but only place with three beds in a room so ok. All bad things comes at night: Very nosily Loud companies dont want to go to sleep even in 3 a.m. (I guess they having a great parties cos it was cold at night) You must control refrigerator's defrost, because nobody care about it. In early morning you have a great alarm - its garbage disposal. Right after garbage is cleanin out, its time for repair work on street. And no hairdryer in bathroom. Hotel rather rundown with squeaking sound of the floor. Carpet in the room was dirty, fittings were very old too. Low water pressure in shower. Two beds pushed together with mattress perpendicular to make a double was VERY uncomfortable. Broken glass and dirty windows made it seem very run down and badly maintained. a few too many stains around the room. i.e the carpets, the bed sides and we didn't dare sit on the sofa. couldn't open window in bedroom as external wall in the way, very hot walking around communal area/poor ventilation, mountain of laundry stacked in corridor by fire door meant impassable (narrow corridors), a major hazord had there been a fire!, conflicting information from staff regarding using room after check out time meant last minute panic before attending a family wedding. Congested corridors, the language students were generally well behaved and polite but they did block the passageways a lot.
