Room was immaculate, obviously new build and sparkling. Bed was huge and there was still plenty of room to move about. Shower was nice, clean and well functioning. Breakfast provided catered to all tastes and was fantastic. Evening menu was also good. Late bar meant no need to go out the hotel and get cold while still being able to be comfortable and social with colleagues. Also bar prices weren't as expensive as I thought they would be.
all reviews » It was so nice to be back at this wonderful hotel. I finally stayed in a room similar to the first time I stayed here. I've stayed many times, the design is quirky which aids the soundproofing. I've recently stayed in other local holiday inn express's and being back here was a dream! Instantly felt comfortable. The staff were much more pleasant too and even held a door open for me as I was carrying a lot of items for work. The staff were very friendly, the hotel was clean throughout with stylish comfortable rooms, the car park appeared secure with cctv cameras on all floors and the bar was open 24/7 and was reasonably priced. Through letsbookhotel.com our rooms were highly discounted and as we were sharing twins it worked out at £33 each for 2 nights. we stayed on the 5th floor and the room was very clean and neatly presented. Bed very comfortable. Even a choice of firm or soft pillows as they were labelled so we knew which was which. A very nice touch I thought. I haven't seen that anywhere else I've stayed. The staff were very helpful and polite. I stayed there before and that is the reason i went back there again as it is clean and the breakfast is very good we even availed of the breakfast on the first day that we arrived as we came from ireland and we were going to the CV show for the day. The trainee receptionist whom was very welcoming and polite, however he had another more experienced staff member overseeing him and he was not as welcoming and rather abrupt. I stay here regular. Excellent access, Superb staff (Denise), Sparkling reception / Bar / Breakfast area, Good size room, spotless room & bathroom, double size shower ! excellent bed & bedding, tea / coffee facility, very good TV provision. The staff were really helpful, I had forgot to notify that I required the sofa bed and yet it was made up for us with no fuss at all. The breakfast was excellent value for money and the room was spacious and comfortable. Staff very friendly yet efficient; rooms are clean, well-appointed, plenty of space and excellent en-suite. Breakfast may not have as much choice as some hotels but it is every bit as good and more than adequate. Things hasn't been replaced, shower gel etc I usually praise the housekeeping staff at this hotel for an excellent job but it did appear that this Room had been cleaned in a hurry this time. Only regret is that I couldn't stay another night. Car park costs £5 per vehicle per night. Not an issue for us as we were a large group in 2 cars and we lucked out with highly discounted rooms. Taxis to the centre are about £15 (for an 8 seater, smaller cars are cheaper), again not a major expense between 8 people. The area around the hotel is a bit run down but felt safe in the hotel. Abrupt welcome Other than this no complaints. As it was Friday no on site evening meals service, but Denise had a good local food knowledge. Nothing, the hotel was fabulous, not their fault that buses are infrequent and don't give change. A really excellent hotel in a city that seems to be trying to catch up with everywhere else. No drawer space whatever in bedroom. Burger was mediocre quality ie the meat not a great taste The scrambled egg was granular not a good form of egg if you are catering for numbers. With bad weather only a few places locally to eat in . Limited choice of breakfasts although good value !! Location ok but not much within wwalking distance had the weather been better. Lack of information on directions, paying for car parking. I didn't enjoy staying on floor 1, the beds are on the corridor wall so noise from other guests in the corridor is very loud. I stay in this hotel often and much prefer the rooms on floor 7 and 5. There was nothing that we didn;t like. Room was a bit cold and had to leave noisy air con unit on all night to keep it warm. Also single quilts weren't big enough. Having to pay for over-night parking. The evening meals were a bit bland and the oven chips were awful!. Had to ask for clean towels most days. Nothing. If you want to get to City Centre, it is a taxi, but hotel accommodate so thats not a problem unless you are on a budget. Didn't affect us. Bar prices were extreme. Dissapointed with Breakfast as there were only 3 items available for a cooked breakfast, scrambled egg beans and sausages no bacon or tomatoes. Paying £5.00 per night carpark and not being able to eat dinner in evening there coz restaurant was full. Couldn't get our van into the car park due to height restriction. The view from the windows is a car park or a main road, There was a black bag of rubbish that stunk! But this is the fourth time we've stayed there and it was the only time that's happened. Paying for water etc. I would have appreciated more hot options for the breakfast. Nothing. The breakfast was poor. More variety such as ham, bacon etc. Banana was finished most of the time (waitress told me that it was finished)!. I was put on the third floor , the noise from other guests in the corridor is very loud as the bed is on the corridor wall. no biscuits for tea in room; no bacon or mushrooms at breakfast. Paying for parking. Limited menu for dinner. We would have appreciated the possibility to have a light lunch at the hotel (no food served at lunch time), but it was not a major problem. Choice of cooked breakfast limited and not the best I have eaten by far.Very bland. check in staff was not very welcoming and wasnt very helpful. Food. Dinner choice vey poor with one item for the second time running not available. Why have it on the menu?.
