We stayed in the new Executive Rooms, they were very nice, decor was nice, the room was spacious and the bathroom was clean and well equipped. We were in Birmingham for an exhibition and arrived very late, around 2am. The gentleman who checked us in was very polite and efficient, especially as he was also trying to deal with a group of quite drunk young ladies on a hen night. The location on the Hagley Road is very good, there are no public areas so to speak, so this really is a hotel just fo.
all reviews » We had a quiet room overlooking a courtyard /backyard. In addition, the spacious queensize bed was obviously new and very comfortable. The design of the room (earth colours and dark red) was pleasant. The free off-road parking in a fenced-off area was a decisive factor in booking this hotel. Staff were very pleasant and helpful, from check in through to departure and quickly responded when the power supply to our room went off. The room was comfortable and quiet, as requested, and the car parking secure. Hotel was very clean, despite alteration work taking place. A good location with free visitors' carpark. The staff were superb - polite, charming and helpful. A high standard of facilites and decor in the room and throughout the hotel. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and would definitely stay there again. Comfy beds. Free car park. Bus stop outside. Friendly and helpful staff. Good value. Close walking distance to ASK and TGI Fridays and 5 min drive to nightlife and 10 to city centre shopping. Best hotel I've stayed at on Hagley Road, out of 5 or 6 hotels. The rooms were very lovely and homely. Very warm and came with loads of extras, good selection of beverages, for the price we felt as if we were underpaying the hotel. would of paid double just to stay here, Very good hotel would recommend to everyone. The rooms are lovely and clean, good shower. 10 minutes walk or short bus ride outside hotel to top of broad steet, with ample safe secure eear parking. Love this place!. It was the best hotel room I have stayed in in a while (and I have stayed in a few!) the bed was so comfortable usually it takes me ages to fall asleep but my friend tells me I fell asleep in the middle of talking about something LOL. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was nicely decorated and clean, there was complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits as well as a safe and good hair dryer. Our room was at the rear of the hotel and so relatively quiet. The room was spotless and extremely well furnished, looked newly refurbished. Staff very friendly which is good when travelling alone. I had a meal through room service and a full english breakfast, both of which were lovely. we had a lovely stay- all the furnishings were lovely and comfortable and the staff were so welcoming, helpful and kind. The receptionist on check out the following morning was one of the rudest I've every encountered. She was on the phone when we dropped our keys and they were taken without looking up and without any acknowledgement. Nothing springs to mind: we just had the one night before driving to the airport. There were only two staff on duty for breakfast, who despite the building work did extremely well to look after the guests and clear/reset tables. Naturally this resulted in delays which could have been avoided had more staff been on duty. This did not spoil our overall experience of the hotel. It was all good - there was nothing to dislike. Shower went from hot to cold and vica versa a few times. Key card reset on the second day so had to go back down to reception when we couldn't get in room. Everything was perfect!. Nothing i would definitely stay here again. The fact that there was no restaurant to have breakfast first thing in the morning or even get room service. The communal areas are in need of refurbishment and this is currently being undertaken. There was nothing I didn't like about the hotel. - too busy breaskfeast room - breakfeast in a different building - no dinner facilities. The hotel is still under going major renovation work so areas are still bare plaster board. The food was competent but not 4* price was fair for what was produced. No wine list.....only house!. Outside doesnt look as nice.. but its a nice suprise when you go inside you have a high class modern rooms. Not a problem for us but there is still building work being carried out between the reception and restaurant - when finished this will enhance the whole place. Bedroom had not been thoroughly cleaned (used tissues under the bed), hotel not clearly sign posted on the road so difficult to find when driving by. No negatives at all. room was chilly but I couldn't turn heater on. No instructions . If I had been staying longer than one night I would have asked for help. The location was not so good if you want to go to the center on a daily basis. Poor breakfast buffet, eggs overdone, greasy bacon, undercooked sausages. Staff could not care less. A real shame as the hotel is wonderful. the car park needs tarmacking as there were few pot holes and surface water-the hotel sign needs to be bigger and more visible at night. Hotel was being refurbished while we were there so parts were closed off, not ideal to walk through the conference suit while a wedding was taking place to go to the bar. Breakfast wasn't the best and served in a cold dinning room. Breakfast let down the hotel and definitely wasn't worth the seven pounds each. The layout was horrible, dull and gloomy. The hot water didn't work in the shower, we moved rooms only to find the water didn't work at all. On our last room the cold water from the shower didn't work. We didn't bother move again jus used the bath instead. Wouldn't stay here again. Food was disappointing, vegetables not up to scratch. The name of the hotel had changed - I booked at The Clarion just a few day before - much driving up and down road on wet, busy day to find the hotel. An email to all booked guests would have been a simple courtesy. Key did not work to room and could not work out heating controls. Was some work going on out side but didn't stop us enjoying our stay. The receptionist wasn't there when I arrived for about 15 minutes, an then she also did not have my booking in front of her. Restaurant was closed for re furb :(. A lot of building work going on. The room was too hot but I can't complain about the weather! Signage wasn't clear whe trying to first find the hotel. minor desruption of restaurant under refurb it was a cold room.
