Set on the banks of the River Avon, Old Mill Hotel & Lodge has lovely gardens and stunning views over the countryside surrounding Bath. It is located on a site that housed a flour mill until 1907. Since then it has been developed into an attractive hotel with fully refurbished rooms, banqueting suites, a restaurant, bar and lounge. The rooms offer free tea and coffee facilities and quality toiletries. Guests can also enjoy a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, and an ISDN telephone link. Il Mulino, the hotel’s riverside restaurant, has a unique waterwheel feature and panoramic views. The menu features local, fresh produce, and is also open to non residents. Between April and October a riverboat leaves 100 metres away across the bridge, and takes passengers into central Bath.

Great welcome, I arrived late and the dining room had closed, but they booked me in with no fuss. The menu was broad, good affordable wine list and the cooking was excellent. My room was delightful and the location beautiful. Excellent free Wifi available. Lovely view from our room. Helpful advice from staff about getting into the city.The walk along the tow-path and the boat trip are recommended.very good food.

The area where the hotel is located has veerything an overnight visitor to Bath would desire: it is within walking distiance to a picturesque Cotswold village complete with ancient church, canal, and pub; the walk is a bit scary with the narrow road and fast cars, but it has a pedestrian walkway swo there is no real threat. There is even a public footpath through a field. Great place for anyone. The staff were always available and they were helpful and friendly. It was also a little bit stuffy, the heating was up extremely high and even though it was freezing outside I had to open a window. We originally booked a room in the Lodge, but on arrival found it too hot and claustraphobic, also the windows were tied up with string, so could not open to let air into room. We could not have stayed for three days in the Lodge, so upgraded to room 115 in the main Hotel with a balcony which made a great differance to our short break, the Manager was very helpful to us.n/a. The room we had in the lodge (motel portion) was small, especially the bathroom, but everything else made up for the small size. Seasoned travellers adapt.Single room a little small, but had everything I needed and slept well. size of bathroom in the "lodge" part of the hotel was on the small side. Needed refurbishment. Bathroom was cramped and heating could have been better. Room was cold at arrival. Would have preferred to have been in the main hotel, felt a little vulnerable in the lodge chalet. Small size of room. The decor was very dated but this seemed to be a work in progress - Somerooms were closed for decorating!The bed was large but very hard! A newmatress wouldn't go amiss!. Evening meal was ordinary served by a drunken waiter. Could do with some net by the windows to stop the flies coming in atnight due to the river nearby. Maybe if you have a special deal on accomadation in the future ,youcould E.mail me.Unfortunately this visit to you was unrefundable.We onlystayed one hour.I Am sure the cleaner will be pleased we left.I Didleave the room with no damage. The woman who was working the next morning was the polar opposite of the helpful woman. She was rude and condesending, and left a bad last impression as we were leaving. I wish I had names to give credit where credit is due.Room was very warm. While this was nice to come into from the cold outside it got a bit uncomfortable during the night, I should have turned the radiator down!. Parking is a challenge and you might find yourself in the middle of a friendly wedding.(did not go on all night) Access to upstair rooms is very narrow with luggage. For slim people only. I felt a little pressured to decide early on whether or not a table was required for evening meal. We stayed in a chalet when required the actual hotel. Bar closes at 11 PM but couldnt buy an Irish Coffee at 10.35 PM and was told had to have the correct change otherwise charged to the room, I guess they had decided to pack up early which was a real shame.

The Waterwheel Restaurant is surrounded by sliding glass windows leading out onto the lovely gardens. The gardens have picturesque views of the river and the surrounding countryside and are beautifully illuminated in the evening. The restaurant takes its name from the unique working waterwheel, which is another attractive feature. However, the most important aspect of any restaurant is the quality of the food and the service, and we are justifiably proud of both in the waterwheel. Our menu is based on the principles of using quality raw materials, freshly cooked and attractively presented. There is a wide selection of dishes to choose from, including fresh fish, grills, vegetarian items and dishes with a Mediterranean influence. In addition to the extensive à la carte menu, there is also a 3-course fixed price menu, offering plenty of choice. These fixed price menus offer exceptional value for money, as do the individually priced dishes on the à la carte menu. In addition to dinner being served every evening of the week, the Waterwheel Restaurant is open for lunch on Sunday, when a special 3-course fixed price menu is available, offering plenty of options for each course, including a choice of 3 different roasts. Children no older than 12 years old receive a discount on the fixed price of this menu.

The Waterwheel Restaurant is entirely non-smoking throughout.

leave at junction 18, follow a46 into Bath (for 8 miles), Once on the dual carriage way stay in left hand lane, this will bring you to a roundabout where you turn left, sign posted for Batheaston, Half a mile along this road you will see a pub on the right called the waggon and horses. Turn right after pub, sign posted Bathampton tollbridge. Follow down the hill we are at the bottom on the left.

From A36,
Once on the outskirts of Bath you will see a sign saying Bathampton. Turn right after sign, sign posted to Bathampton village, this is Down lane. Follow to the bottom and turn right. Follow through village (past the pub & the church) until you come to the tollbridge, we are just on the other side.

From the City Centre,
Follow the signs for the M4 out of the city. The road to follow is the london road. Once at a large roundabout (where the M4 is the first exit (left) off of the roundabout), go straight over taking the second exit which is sign posted for Batheaston. Half a mile along this road on the right you will see a pub called the waggon and horses, Take the right hand turn after the pub; sign posted Bathampton tollbridge. We are on the left, just before the tollbridge.
