Excellent location in city centre. The staff were helpful and friendly at all times and we liked the 24hr reception desk which made us feel secure in the hotel. The building had lots of character with lovely internal courtyards and interesting paintings and furnishings. We stayed in the junior suite (room 103) which was amazing. It was very clean and spacious with a seperate bedroom and living space with 3 balconies including one in the bathroom!! The whole suit felt very homely and relaxing an.
all reviews » The hotel is quirky - but very nicely so. The decor of old Spainish tiles in an ancient convent provides a comfortably and interesting historical ambiance. The hotel is clean and quiet, and the buffet breakfast is amongst the best we have enjoyed. Being only one hundred metres from the cathedral in the Santa Cr us district is a real bonus. Really nice place and reccommended. NB: do not attempt to take your car to the hotel - the experience of the narrow 'donkey' streets is frightening - best to. This quirky hotel has a lot of history and charm. As a former convent, the rooms are small, but the ensuite bathrooms have been updated and are large and comfortable. Our room had no window to the outside, so it was quiet but a bit closed in. The window is on to the courtyard which is really quaint. Many bars and restaurant are near hotel. Bed was a little hard for me but my girlfriend found it comfortable. Breakfast was plentyful but a little bit unimaginative. Only one choice of cerial (cornflakes) and the coffee was from a machine. Because the rooms are small, and we had no window to the outdoors, it was a bit stuffy. Remedied by opening the window to the courtyard to air out and cool off a bit. The hotel is in the centre of Santa Cruz and as such isn't an easy location to find in a car without GPS; there is parking immediately outside the hotel to unpack but you will need to park in a local 24 hr car park (there are several to choose from at around €17 per day). As the streets here are olde they are very narrow, they will not accommodate a large car. WiFi only in lobby,no access in the rooms; some rooms have window to corridor so not private for those rooms if you want the window open. Mine opened to mini courtyard so very private; housekeeping staff do not respect the Do Not Disturb sign in their effort to unnecessarily change the towels . The breakfast was not good. We would recommend to book a room without breakfast and rather have it at a bar. Based on other hotels we had used on this trip we thought it was a bit over priced. Weird not having a window to the outside - it opened onto an internal courtyard!. (Weak wireless signal, and only available in lobby.). Nightmare getting to it with our car because of narrow one-way streets and impossible corners which defeated the satnav!. 1) room without window. 2) mattress didn't fit well in the bed frame. 3) quite small room. ...leaving.... Housekeeping was a bit noisy in the hall while working. Some people were making noise at night and the isolation was not good. We fiund a dead beatle which was never removed during our staying (3 days). Poor breakfast, but in line with the hotel standards. the breakfast hot food first day but when asked for same the second day was refused quite bluntly by a very rude waiter.however this should not be a reflection on overall staff who were really friendly and helpful. Rooms very compact. No internet in rooms... sucks for beeing on a businesstrip. Very dark and small room, with no air, without window. No refrigerator and air conditioner. Guest who will use this hotel in summer have to remind it... The breakfast need to be improved.
