Excellent location. Service-minded staff. Clean. Good value. Although we had a room towards the street we had no problems with noise, but I guess it depends on when you go to bed. People are out on the street outside until 1, but after that we found it calm. If you park in the "La paz" parking you need to ask for a stamp on the parking ticket to get a discount (10 instead of 16€/night). The owner lives onsite. She was friendly & very helpful - if she was not actually in the reception and we needed anything we just had to knock on her door. She even allowed us to leave our luggage with her, after we had checked out, so that we could go sight-seeing. The hostal was centrally located - near the Cathedral & within metres of restaurants. There was parking nearby.
all reviews » The owner/manager was very friendly and helpful. The property was immaculately clean and well decorated. The location was outstanding, near the cathedral and in the pedestrian zone, with loads of shops and restaurants/bars nearby. Destination sites were easy to reach on foot or by bus (which stop in front of the cathedral.). The staff was delightful, helpful, and welcoming. My room was very comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and as long as I kept the window closed, there was little noise, even though my room overlooked the street. The breakfast was very copious and I could have all the coffee that I wanted (definitely a plus). Wonderful location close to the cathedral. Parking close by and a great deal, but use gps! The rooms are small but clean and the hosts are amazing. Highly recommended for travelers - those who want somewhere nice and safe, but are not spending tons of time in their rooms. Great value!. Mesones is located in one of the best corners in the old city ever possible. The location of this hostel is the biggest thing. Smack dead in the middle of the city, right next to the cathedral. Rooms are clean, bathroom is clean (though we had a private one so I cant attest to the communal ones). Excellent value for money. Actually, we were surprised by the size of the twin room. Generally, you expect the beds to be really close but the room was spacious. Also very well located. Clean room cleaned daily and very kind service. Great price and breakfast included. Overall an unbeatable combination of price, service and location. Would do again anytime. The owners were very helpful and welcoming. I felt at home. My top floor room was hard to heat, but I understand they are replacing the windows this year with thermal models. The WiFi didn't work very well in my room, but was fine in the commons room. I would have liked to stay much longer at Mesones, but I had to return to Austria unfortunately ... If you're traveling with a lot of stuff, be warned that there is no elevator and there are 3 floors. The reception is one floor up so its a bit easy to miss the entrance as it's just a door that leads up on floor. On the weekends it gets a bit noisy outside because of all the bars and restaurants around the area. If you cant figure out how to switch the AC from heat to cool it makes for a bit of an annoyance that you can't open the window. Wifi was a bit weak, but I was not there to surf on the Internet, but for tuoristing so it was Ok. On a busy street in the shopping district, noisy at night. Room smaller with little sunlight. the bed was not the most comfortable and the lighting was not the most easy to use. The room near the street may be a little noisy. But it's not really bother me. Wifi didn't reach my room. a little bit noisy but ok. Basic room and small toilet, no place to sit. Staff seemed burned out on tourists. size of room and bathroom. difficult access with luggage, up 2 flights of stairs. no parking or vehicular access in immediate vicinity. Rooms are too small, breakfast is poor.
