Loved our courtyard flat with the facility to sit outside and totally relax. Breakfasts were varied and well cooked and presented. We had been several times to the EEndracht locally but they were overpriced, and their breakfasts were not memorable, and we were slightly apprehensive as to what we might expect. We need not have worried, as the visit was way way above our expectation.. Beautifully appointed, quiet, wonderfully helpful staff, lovely rooms, all comforts available. Situated in university town of Stellenbosch in quiet road. An excellent stay, good value for money and I will stay there again. Highly recommended to anyone travelling to Stellenbosch for sightseeing, or business.
all reviews » Excellent location, just 10 minutes from the town centre on foot, and only 5 minutes from the delightful botanical gardens. Friendly, helpful staff who were happy to make reservations at restaurants. Good breakfasts, served on terrace if weather is fine. It was a clean, cosy guest house with friendly staff. I liked the decor and the gardens outside was beautifull and well maintained. There was always available parking on the premises. The breakfast was delicious as well. We absolutely loved our stay in the Bonne Esperance Guesthouse. We had a wonderful time there and would recommend the guesthouse anytime. Lovely pool area, nice rooms. Thank you!. The staff were outstanding and friendly. Went out of their way to help and give information on the area. Breakfasts delicious and room very comfortable. Will definately be back. The place was amazing and well situated to the town centre. The reception staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Will be definitely returning later in the year. Always enjoy our stay here. Only one slight comment rather than a criticism was that the only male on duty behind the desk was the one who did not look up from the computer or acknowledge our presence. There is nothing that we did not like. Nothing. The breakfast staff were a little dull and paid no attention to customer needs. Very tight staircase to Room 5.... luckily we never had large suitcases!. Bed was a bit small and hart. The small room was ok for us, but I can imagine it`s not for everybody. traffic noise. Wifi not working well, they said IT guy was supposed to come to fix it. The walls and doors are very thin so you hear everything that is happening outside your room and even in the floor above. We booked a "luxury double with queen bed", but got a fairly small room with two singles. There were no other rooms available. Also, the shower is over the bath and the base of the bath is curved, making it almost impossible to stand up at all! The shower head was also way too low, so I nearly broke my neck trying to wash my hair. The TV was basically useless. None. bathroom a bit cramped, some noise from other rooms. nothing to dislike. The food is only okay. Other travelers slamming door during the night and early morning. There was no dinner and we moved out and search for food instead of relaxing. Parking can be a problem. Nothing. my toilet seat was broken. stairs. Still waiting for breakfast. The room was quite chilly and there's no electric blanket.

Travelling information

- When leaving Airport for Stellenbosch, head for N2 and take off-ramp, in the direction of Somerset West. - Take Exit no.33 (R310 or Baden Powell Drive) and turn left at traffic lights, in the direction of Stellenbosch; - Continue on R310 for approximately 15 km, until reaching T-junction with a traffic light (this is 3 km after passing Spier Estate); - Turn right in the direction of Stellenbosch, traveling a further 4 km, through a set of traffic lights, over a railway bridge and onto a 2nd set of traffic lights; - Turn right at this junction, into Dorp Street; Continue along Dorp Street and at the top, there will be a sharp right-hand bend. - On rounding this bend, take the 1st left into The Avenue (there are houses on the left and the Eerste River on the right). - Continue up The Avenue for about 200 metres and turn left into Neethling Street; - Continue along Neethling for approximately 150 metres where it intersects with Van Riebeeck Street; Bonne Esperance is on this corner; - Turn right into the guest house’s off-street parking (on Neethling Street).
