    The location was great, close enough to all the activity but not so close that you are woken up or disturbed. The room was clean and the majority of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hostel is very close to the V&A, Long Street (bars), easy to get to the vast array of beautiful beaches, close to Table Mountain, there are lots of lo... what people say » vely little restaurants and shops. Cape Town itself was incredible! If you like live music, go to the Dubliner on Long Street, Mama Africa has amazing - Clean, comfortable, well kitted out rooms in a great area of Cape Town. Easy walk to the waterfront. Very accommodating given I was unwell during my stay. Free parking right outside. Excellent value for money.

    The backpack was a really comfortable and welcoming place to stay. The common areas were laid back & relaxed and the place was very clean. Location was great & just a short walk from the top of Long Street and some good restaurants. Waterfront was a decent walk or a fairly quick taxi ride. We stayed here based in recomendations & were ... what people say » very hsppy. Compared to some friends who were staying at numerous backpackers in and around Long Street, this sounded superior & I would definitel - It was my second time at this hostel and I came back three years later because I liked it. Apart from it being excellent for what is officially a backpackers place I really appreciate the attitude of owners and staff who are supporting community projects and take recycling seriously, something that is still not very wide spread in South Africa. Excellent Sandwiches and breakfast.

    We stayed three nights at B.I.G. in one of the worst downpours, with hail, seen by Cape Town in years. This managed to mess up our plans.... But due to Amilion, Linda, Tulua, and Amy, we were able to have a wonderful time anyway. When we first arrived, Amilion (spelling?) suggested we go immediately to see Kirstenbosh due to the pending bad weathe... what people say » r. Since this was top of our desires, we are soooo thankful to her for her insistence as we may not have been able to see it otherwise. The rooms were - We were welcomed with a traditional South African braii - barbecue! How much better can you get to meet everyone and get comfortable with the Cape Town groove?! We loved the staff - from the owner to the housekeepers - they really took good care of us while allowing us to still enjoy the "backpacker-style" of lodging. They helped us plan our days to use our time and $$ so we could get to do all the things we hoped to enjoy in our 5 nights stay. The Dave Matthews Band concert brought us 8,000

    Great for a short stay if you are on a low budget. We got an upgrade to one of the guesthouses and were given a large triple room with private bathroom.     Didi,a vivacious bundle of energy inducts us into the routine of her establishment and shows us to the room. It is as luxurious and tastefully outfitted as any good hotel room with a big ensuite and French doors onto a north-facing patio with our own table and chairs. The room was spacious and clean. It included a spa bath and the room had a heater going which made it very comfortable on the cold and rainy night. Breakfast was great. an overall good experience. Recommended

    We were greeted personally by the owners and made extremely welcome. We were given information about our location and provided with a very good street map. We were also given good information on places to eat and interesting excursions. The owners were always available, in our all too short stay (2 nights). We have no complaints whatsoever and woul... what people say » d reccommend to anyone. - The hosts Cecille and Collen made us very welcome and Colleen couldn't help out enough in terms of local advice and suggestions. The House is beautilful in a great location, we would thoroughly recommend staying here.

    The service is great,the staff make u feel like you are @ home! I enjoyed my stay there and I will definitely stay there again if I have another trip to the mother city - staff was really nice and competent. They were really helpful with planning our trips and activities.
