We really love everything about Augusta Bay Guest House - the location, the staff / services, comfort, cleanliness. Its modern and have free and stable wi-fi in the room, individual parking lot and really facing the head front. There's no elevator but the staff helped us to bring our luggages up, so it OK. I will definitely come back if I visit Knysna again and recommend it to my friends.
all reviews » A lovely clean, spacious, luxurious guest house, with very comfortable rooms. The bathroom and shower were exceptionally good for getting in and out of with mobility problems. Staff were most welcoming when we arrived and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts were excellent. The location at the Heads is absolutely superb with an excellent restaurant only yards away. The Augusta Bay is a fantastic guest house and brilliant value for money. Our room was luxury and large with a luxury bathroom. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. They even went to the trouble of providing Gluten free bread and cereal for my husband and also soya milk. Thank you. x. Host Liya was awesome , helpful, very friendly....and so were her staff...very courteous..it was a fabulous experience..the break fast, coffee was really nice...enjoyed the stay and the hospitality was "simply superb"...would love to come back again..:). The guesthouse is getting old and although clean, starts to look a bit shabby... To get somewhere, except 1 restaurant and 1 coffee place you need a car or a taxi. limited parking spaces,. Facility is up for re-vamp Service could be slightly better - breakfast was delayed. The many stairs but we were told about it beforehand. Nothing. No pathway to the beach. Weak/no internet signal in our room. Dirty bedroom windows, which spoilt the fantastic views. Nothing. Nothing. Now just a little tired and in need of TLC. Unfortunately there was a building site opposite...this also spoils the view. Also the hotel is a little old fashioned and needs some minor modernisation.

Travelling information

DIRECTIONS FROM GEORGE: Take the N2 to Knysna. Drive through Knysna past the hospital on the left (traffic light), pass one more traffic light and after the Kwikspar and Caltex garage on the right, at the bottom of the hill, turn right onto George Rex Drive. Proceed with the lagoon on your right, past the Premium Hotel Resort on the right, past the golf course on the left, past the turn-off to Leisure Isle on the right, staying on George Rex, all the way to the traffic circle. Proceed around the traffic circle and take the road down the hill towards the Heads. Just before the public parking area at the end of the road, you will see Augusta Bay on the left hand side. It is the large white building above the road, with flags flying Directions from Plett: Take the N2 to Knysna. After entering Knysna city limits, at the bottom of the hill, before the Caltex garage, turn left onto George Rex Drive. Proceed, with the lagoon on your right, past the Premium Hotel on the right, past the golf course on the left, past the turn-off to Leisure Isle on the right, staying on George Rex, all the way to the traffic circle. Proceed around the traffic circle and take the road down the hill towards the Heads. If the boom is manned, explain that you are a guest at Augusta Bay and have a parking space there. They will let you through. Just before the public parking area at the end of the road, you will see Augusta Bay on the left hand side.
