Great and helpfull staff, great setting next to good restaurants and bars, excellent starting point for city walks to Cape Town's main attractions, good neighbourhood to go for an uphill morning run with Table Mountain View. I was allowed to stay a few more hours working in my room for free, because it wasn't too busy on my day of check-out. I'll definitely recommed the Hippo Boutique Hotel!.
all reviews » The Hippo is well-designed, clean, and in a great location. The room was super modern and cute! We loved having a nice little kitchenette (complete with a french press coffee maker). The rain shower and heated floors in the bathroom were nice as well. Friendly, helpful staff. Great location with 4 restaurants within 50 metres and many more a stroll away, great after a day doing the sights. Room was comfortable, clean and a decent size and the area had a nice buzz. The hotel was very well located, on a busy street with restaurants and bars. It was half way between downtown Cape Town and the Table Mountain, so exploring the city was very easy. The area felt very safe. We had friendly service from all the staff. The room is wonderful and spacious. The hotel is very central. One of the most spacious rooms we had for a long time. Suite was very spacious, amazing views of Table Mountain and Signal Hill from the window, three restaurants attached to the hotel, great location, friendly staff. Superb location for night life. Limited facility to self cater. Dedicated parking. Helpful staff. Fair price. staff was really friendly and helpful! great location at the heart of Cape Town! Big comfortable rooms. Amazing location! Kloof st is the place to stay. Accessability. Our room was almost a self-contained flat. The accommodation was quite comfortable. The fridge was a bit noisy at night...but hey, at least I had a fridge in my room...to keep my beer cool!. Incredibly loud construction began very early in rooms on BOTH SIDES of us. It was very difficult to sleep. :(. Really can't find anything to moan about. The street was a bit noisy at times (because of the venues nearby), but the noise normally would cease before midnight. I needed to get out of my car in the rain and at night to press the button for the staff to open the gate for me. Noise intolerant, complaining, neighbouring guest who chooses this hotel in the middle of the most active, vibrant, noisy part of town!!. As usual for many South African houses, there is no proper heating system for winter times, only an air condition, so it was a little cold at times. Access to the hotel and car park was entirely dependent on someone being on duty ant at their desk - maybe a key-card system would be better. The TV reception was poor.
